Awesome but something is not right. Why would a 64 bit version of the game need a script extender? The whole shtick behind Skyrim SE was "you no longer need script extender because our construction kit is now 64 bit and can natively recognize outside scripts"

The reason for that is simple. The orginal SKSE for SLE will NOT work in SSE due for being a 32-bit program while SSE is 64-bit game and on top of that Bethesda has changed a lot of things in SSE in comparison to SLE.
Also, all SLE mods that requires SKSE cannot be converted to SSE properly.

Here is working quick fix for SKSE64 about how to downgrade SSE from 1.5.50 to 1.5.39.

I really want to do a new playthrough on using this but don't really have the time these days for PC gaming. RPGs need a whole lot of time.
Agreed. Playing a RPG as Skyrim requires a lot of free time, but then why not start a new game and play the time you can spare. Later you can always come back and continue where you left it.

Bethesda released another official update for the Skyrim Special Edition (1.5.53.0) and this time the SKSE team also updated SKSE64, so it should be okay to play. Thanks to the SKSE team.

Another official update for SSE is available on Steam and I had just downloaded the latest SKSE64 2.0.11, so update SSE on Steam then go here (use Ctrl+F5 to refresh if necessary) and download SKSE64 2.0.11.
