The King, having heard the strength of the Lancastrian army, decides to strengthen his own force with the men of John Montagu, Roger Kyriell and John grey of Tankerville. Hastings is left in command of the reserves (best to open a thread for that so all lord's not here can join, Trot) which shall remain in Hampshire.

Sir Thomas St Leger seeks out the Earl of Monmouth in camp, claiming he has some matters of royal import he wishes to inquire about

    ----- (since you're both earls)-----

Later, he seeks out Grey of Tankerville as well, with the same request

Monmouth and Tankerville greet St. Leger in their respective tents, on his respective visits to them.

"My Lord Monmouth," St Leger bowed from the waist with a subtle flair of etiquette. He'd never met either of the Earls of Monmouth or Cambridge, but they likely knew of him - for he knew of them, and knew their faces. It was easy to know someone in a king's court without ever having even spoken. They had once been mere knights like him, which was inspiring - but more frustrating, as he was older and had, in his recollection, served the Sun of York for much longer. Favoritism was fickle. He could admit, though, that he'd not done for York what Kyriell had done, not in 20 years what Kyriell had done in a few.

"I must first express how amusing it is that men such as we only meet when our service requires it."

"It is truly unfortunate." Monmouth replied, while a servant laid out trenchers with steaming contents for the pair. "Battlefields and war camps are hardly ideal places to meet new people. I would rather be having this conversation in the comfort of White Castle or any of our manors rather than this tent, for example. Still, I suppose the Lord works in mysterious ways, and brings men together in mysterious ways as well."

    "So. You are...Thomas Sellinger, yes?"

"That would be I," St Leger said with an affirming nod.

"And I come with business of the king's interest, as it happens."

The king didn't know about any of this, but he would soon enough, St Leger figured.

A rider wearing a white boar badge on his chest approaches the royal encampment at Corfe, clad in light armor and riding one of the fastest steeds in the stables of the king's uncle Gloucester: William Catesby, the man's steward. He brings dire news for the King's ears, and requests to see Edward immediately.

"Your uncle of Gloucester found the Lancastrians north of him and fast approaching Christchurch, my king." Catesby said once he was inside the royal tent. "He is moving west with all due haste, and should pass by Wimbourne soon. He hopes to either join you, or that you join him soon. He believes there are two possible courses of action: either he joins your army here, or if you both time your movements correctly, he could face the Lancastrians in Wimbourne - and that you will be able to fall upon their flank while he pins them down."

"We should march to his aid, then."

Edward was surprised that Lancaster had bypassed them without him realising. Henry's son was crafty, it seemed, for he'd tried to fall upon their reserve rather than confronting the main army. The King looked to Saint Leger, one of his companions at arms.

"My yeomen should inform the peers immediately. We move to support mine uncle Gloucester."

"I shall return to inform Lord Gloucester post-haste. By your leave, sovereign Majesty." Catesby said, bowing.
