To Escape Uncertainty

While the negotiations were ongoing between the Lords Appellant and the Royalists, led by the King, Henry Percy moves around the encampment of the Lord Appellant's army. He seeks out his friend, Sir John Holland, who had followed him to join Gloucester and Clarence in the fight to remove the Woodville tyrant and her cohorts. Once, upon spying his brother-in-law's location, he makes his move, walking over and grabbing his arm. He lowers his voice, glancing around momentarily.

John, we have to leave now. Being this close to London is giving me a bad vibe... I do not think I am safe being this close to the capital.

With the uncertainty of his fate and no promise made of his lands being returned, Percy felt that his fate could be sealed during these negotiations.

I do not want to drag you into this anymore than I have, but maybe I should seek a disguise and depart this army for France. Its like you said, if Gloucester nor Clarence sentences me, it will surely be your father.

Lord Exeter had once been a friend of his late father, but from what John said, that friendship had seemingly dried up. Henry could not let himself be fated to die here, he was needed to live for his niece.

I fear though that, if I leave, you will be punished instead and I cannot let that happen to you of all people.
