Hi, I'm new to the forums here and I tried using the search feature, but I couldn't find an answer. If anyone is able to help I'd appreciate it.

Basically, I've been using my faction leader (in this case Grimgor as Greenskins) as the core of my army to kill enemy generals and make the rest of the army rout. However, after one particular battle in which he personally killed 2 enemy generals he got the "fearful" trait, which makes no sense.

Looking into it further, this should only be triggered when the general ends a battle without engaging in melee. I pressed on, and purposely put him in dangerous situations to rack up kills to get the anti trait to start kicking in. However, I then got the second rank of fearful (cowardly) after a battle, so obviously I was moving in the wrong direction. I then reloaded to back when he was just fearful and auto-resolved several battles in a row. Eventually he lost the fearful trait. I have a feeling that manually doing battles can get you the coward trait and auto-resolve can get you the brave trait, but I can't prove it.

I tried setting the chance for the trait and anti trait to 100 (it was just 6 by default) in the "trait_effects" file as a means of testing. However, after several battles with multiple generals I couldn't get the trait to trigger at all in either direction. Theoretically it would have just taken 2 battles to get one trait or the other if a general had no prior ranks in it, if it was working right (assuming I fought in both, or avoided fighting in both). I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong, or if the traits are just broken beyond our ability to fix without thorough knowledge of the code.

It's not even that the trait is that big of a deal, it's more the principle of the thing at this point. I don't want to have to auto-resolve every battle just to avoid getting this trait. I was able to mod files just fine in Medieval 2 and worst case scenario I could just remove a bad trait through the console. Not so with this game. This has been bugging the hell out of me, if anyone knows a fix or can point me in the right direction I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you to anyone that takes the time to read this.
