    Default More 'acute' battles/finishing moves.

I was really hyped up about this game, hearing about how 'every soldier has his own battle' and all the finishing moves, etc, but when I see battles now, it seems exactly the same. Wtf happened? Am I missing some option or something?

All the battles seem mechanic, not realistic, like some vids i've seen. I've never ONCE seen any of the 'finishing' moves shown in vids during a real battle.

I'm not sure whether to be sad/mad.

Now that you mention it, I'm also still looking for the "hack 'n slay moves" from the intro video:hmmm:

I wondered about it too. I saw those finishing moves in demo, but now they are missing. What happened?

Yeah I've noticed that too, I'm glad other people have too. I HAVE seen ONE finishing move ONCE in about 3 weeks of continous gaming. (I finished school )
Anyway it was a spearman militia unit against an armoured soldier and the "finishing" move was an overhead smash when the soldier was wounded in the ground getting up. Looked pretty cool.

BUT still it was/still is not enough. The finishing move was still not as good as the movies and theres no where NEAR enough. My guess is that they rushed this one to get it out in time for christmas and didn't have enough time to put everything in. I mean the A.I is terrible, formations are scattering all over the map (such as the generals horsemen charging against routing units) units routing halway up ladders are still getting stuck, and a simple, basic, stupid thing which i can't believe wasn't fixed from RTW is that if you group archers and order them all to fire at the one unit, they will only do so if you tell them invididually.

Anyway I could be wrong but I believe they have a lot more patches to release with extra stuff that should have been in the original release.

Of course I would only be angry like this if I loved the game and knew its true potential, so get back in line you spineless women and follow me to victory.

I see them all the time, but you are right. Some of the moves from the intro movie are only there for the movie i'm afraid. You should still be seeing many of the 'less varied' ones though. Actually I saw a pretty good one the other day, a block got knocked down by an axeman. He got up and shook himelf off. Meanwhile the other man had started fighting another man. He thrust his sword into his back and when he fell to his knees he chopped his head off you have to remember the finishing moves only apply to about one in 200 attacks.

I don't know what you people are talking about, what kind of finishing moves were you expecting?

I count a finishing move as anything other that "Person A swings, person B falls down dead." And I see them constantly. Between 2handed swordsmen decapitating people, halberdiers chopping people on the ground, swordsmen stabbing guys through the heart and then pushing them off their swords, and peasants kicking a dude in the nuts, I don't know how you miss them.

Whoa! A beheading? I missed this one. Which unit gets to do this?

I get them all, too. But for the real effect I think you need the version 2 shaders up. My card doesn't support the V2 shaders with great speed. More like slow-moving marionettes.

it's a beheading animation. The head of the unit doesn't actually come off.

They deflect the enemy attack, then stab the sword through their side. The enemy then drops to his knees, and they swing their sword through their neck. Then the other dude falls on his face.

But the 2 handed swordsmen gets that one.

Does anyone still have this issue if they're using Shader 2 and have effects on high?

The best finishing move I've seen is when a Noble Swordsman from Scotland spun around a guy with his shield and stabbed the dude in the back, then kicked him to the ground.

i've seen alot, but i notice them mostly on the walls, cause of the good perspective. i've seen mostly the spearman one, where they knock enemy to the floor and finish off with a stab. but it isn't really that different from Rome, apart from those finishing moves.
i was hoping the animations would be more like the original MTW, cause there seemed to be more movement and sword swinging. :hmmm:

how on earth did you miss the finishing moves they happen all the time but usually your to busy managing things to notice, they are there just take a breather from commanding and watch the carnage happen and youll see em all the time.

Personally, I have seen many finishing moves, and combat choreography on all kinds of units. Almost every time I zoom down to a clash there are a few happening at once. One where a soldier will knock his opponents blade to the side, then slide his sword across his chest, and slash him in the back. Or, someone will be knocked down and a spear man will thrust his weapon into his chest while he's on the ground. There are tons of variations that I've seen. I suggest if you really want to see them well, perfectly, make a custom battle on the Grassy Flatland with a unit of knights vs. another unit of knights, and then watch the show. Turn up all the effects detail as well.

I've seen them too. It looks cool when u see two soldiers fighting and see a finishing move, looks better than in RTW.

I've never really zoomed up close to watch, too busy ordering them around. The only time I really saw one up close was the death animation for the enemy general as he was fighting my Noble Pikemen. He was knocked off his horse and the death animation started with him being spun around and the pikeman slicing the general's back with a sword.
