Default Mercer Estate: Earl of Worcester

    Newmarket, Cambridgeshire

Current Earl of Worcester: William Mercer, 1st Earl of Worcester, 1st Baron of Tiptoft
Location: Mercer Castle is located in province #6 of Cambridgeshire.

Regional Bonus Flat land: Remarkably flat lands, Cambridgeshire and Huntingdon are favoured spots for attacking generals. +1 to field battles for attacking armies.
Provincial Bonuses University of Cambridge: The second-oldest university in England, this institution dates back to 1209 when a number of Oxford scholars fled from the wrath of the townsfolk there and sought refuge in Cambridge instead. Ironically, despite their unfortunate histories together, the two universities banded together in 1334 to successfully petition King Edward to forbid the construction of other universities throughout England, effectively establishing a duopoly on higher education. Characters start with 2 extra trait points when coming of age here, and the controller further enjoys the services of educated physicians, providing a +1 bonus against death rolls and birth rolls. The owner of this province cannot construct the University great building.

A letter arrives, informing lord Mercer that the Duke of Buckingham and his household currently reside in London - and find difficulty leaving the city these days due to lord Buckingham's appointment as constable of the Tower. However, Lord Stafford would be happy to dine with the Lord Mercer at a London residence.

A letter is brought, carrying the seal of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, The Lord High Steward, The earl of Shrewsbury, Ormond and Waterford.

    William,

I thank you deeply for your letter and it seems I should congratulate you as well for being appointed to the privy.
I fear I am without time to write a proper response to you, I will visit England soon, if I can squize a visit into my schedule I shall visit. Regarding Richard, I could take him on as a Squire if you wish it so.

    Signed, Waxed and Sealed.
    The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland,
    Lord Shrewsbury.

The fight for Edward's crown hadn't begun yet and the outcome is still uncertain, to protect William and his family Edward breaks into the family making it look like a raid which conveniently Lord Exeter had been raiding the family lands. William still in prison, Edward was able to empty the vault of 485 pounds. It was better this way, William wouldn't get involved yet and should things go south he was protected
