Textile Trade: Warwick makes most of its money from the textile industry, which will certainly benefit the purses of those who locate their prime estates within this county. +5% income.

    Provincial Bonuses:
    Warwick:
Warwick Castle: This fortress was first founded by William the Conqueror in 1068, but was upgraded into a stone castle in the 12th century and has served as the stout residence of the various Earls of Warwick since 1088. The 11th Earl, Thomas de Beauchamp, further strengthened the castle between 1330 and '60, making it into one of the finest examples of medieval military architecture in England. +4 Siege rolls, -4 Raid rolls, and the castle's central keep is strong enough that a defender who loses its outer walls can hold out there for half a year more (3.5 days).

    Provincial Bonuses:
    Malverin:
Malvern Chase: These forested hills are traditionally counted among the royal preserves of England. Besides being a high-quality hunting ground for bored royals, it also presents a good defensive position against any opponent, as they will have to navigate the woods and climb hills before reaching the surely better-rested defenders. -2 Scout rolls for an attacker, -1 Death rolls for the holder.
    Leinster (FitzClarence's Headquarters)
    Leinster:
Wealth: Leinster is perhaps one of the most prosperous regions in all Ireland, granting those who have their primary residence here +10% to their estate incomes.

This mega-thread serves as the overall Estates controlled within the same family. However, they will be controlled by a few different landholders in the future.

If you wish to speak with Clarence, his main residence will be Worcester Castle in Worcester.

If you wish to speak with Warwick (John), his main residences will be Warwick Castle in Warwick or Hanworth Manor in London.

If you wish to speak with FitzClarence, his main residence will be Carlow Castle in Carlow, Ireland.

    To the Duke Clarence,

I write to you from my cell in the Tower of London. The Queen has imprisoned me on trumped up charges of treason and sedition. It would appear that your counsel from the coronation was correct, and I fear that we must now suffer a tyrant to reign as Queen. I implore your help in this matter, lest I languish away to nothingness in this prison.

    Signed,
    Edward Bourchier (titles, etc)

Lord Hastings is shown into Worcester Castle, which had become the home for the Duke of Clarence since he left London.

George tended to keep himself busy with archery, since he was neither a member of the Privy Council nor the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland anymore.

A servant brings Lord Hastings to the courtyard where George is practicing his archery. After a good shot, he turns to Lord Northampton.

My Lord Hastings, a surprise to see you have come to visit. Come, have a seat and some wine.

He gestures to an outdoor table that they could use as the pair move to sit down.

I suspect the air is less toxic here than it is in London these days.

Hastings sits down and accepts the goblet gladly. Coming to the estates of Lord Clarence himself was a risky proposition after what he learned in London, but he did not trust messengers and envoys.
"My Lord Clarence I wish more favorable circumstances brought me here." He begins deciding to forgo pleasantries and get to the point. "I believe the Queen is trying to frame you for treason." He pauses letting the news settle. "I spoke to Lord Holland to new Constable of the tower and he claimed that Lord's Stafford and Bourchier were arrested for plotting with you. I am afraid your peaceful retirement will not last long."

I am well aware of the plot, my Lord Hastings. Lord Essex told me of the Queen's desire to use fabricated evidence and the courts to push me from the regency.

George sighs deeply, knowing that these claims would not die so easily. Lord Bourchier must have been arrested for reasons involving himself, the Duke of Clarence.

If they have been arrested because of plotting with me, then they will aim for me next. And my son, John, is in their nest.

Clarence knew that to raise arms would risk John's very life.

I know I cannot wait here for my fate, my Lord Hastings. My brother goes to Scotland and I am left here. The Queen will certainly seek to remove me so to grant Warwick to Lord Salisbury and deprive my son of his inheritance.

Hastings takes a sip of wine and relaxes. "I suspect they will come for you next, but you have friends outside of the court. I have been speaking with the peerage and many sympathies lie with you." He shakes his head, "I have even approached the Archbishop of Canterbury, he agrees that the queen needs to go. It is one of the ways to get the sacrament restored to the people of London." Hastings pauses taking another sip of wine. "It seems the arrest of his brother and the queens insults on his person have given you a sympathetic ear in the church."

And the Church, including the populace, helped ensure the rise of the House of York. Without that foundation, the Queen was vulnerable.

My Lord Hastings, with this news, I am confident that we should rise against the Queen and have her forcefully removed. Her support wanes daily now, arresting persons married into her family and insulting the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Clarence had to gather what he could and hoped it would not be too late.

We need to gather what lords have a sympathetic ear and raise our standards. Can you send a letter to my brother, Gloucester, for me?

If enough support could be garanteed, a manifesto could be declared, banners raised and the Queen disposed overnight.

"I know Mowbary will stand with us." Hastings starts, "Although with your brothers expedition to Scotland I'm not sure how much more support we can count on until they return. He seems to have taken most of those that would lend a sympathetic ear." He shakes his head. "We need time to buy ourselves more time for Your brother to return home."

No... if we wait too long for my brother to return, the Queen will have certainly removed you and I, Lord Hastings. And my brother will be without even less support.

It was a risk, yet Clarence decides to send a letter himself to his brother. If Gloucester had an army gathering for Scotland, it could easily be turned south to free London from the grip of the Queen.

I will send messengers to the Archbishop, he should have enough authority to raise the soldiers of his imprisoned brother and ensure the clergy sides with the actions to oust the Lady Regent.

Hastings nods it was an unfortunate state to be in. "Then I must return to my Estates and raise what men I can." Blood would once again be shed in England it seems.

"My master was moved by your words, Your Grace." Ratcliffe began after bowing. "The arrests of Buckingham and Aumale, followed by your own son, have convinced him that his decision to allow the Queen Dowager to assume the regency was a horrible mistake, and that far from bringing peace to the realm, it has only further troubled all England. The excommunication and interdict, followed by this recent inexplicable attainder of Northumberland, were just the last straws on the Boar's back. He is prepared to lend you his aid in deposing your mutual, power-mad sister-in-law. There just remains one concern..." The knight paused momentarily, to decide how best to phrase his next remarks. "Both your son and his remain in the Queen's clutches as of now. He would prefer to know if you have a plan to deal with that issue already, rather than devising one on the road to London with your intentions already known."

I doubt the Queen would murder our sons in cold-blood, for that will certainly turn her own son against her regency.

He sighs deeply, pondering upon what could be done to ensure their son's safety. As of now, Warwick was in the Tower and thus comfortably housed. But would his fate remain secure?

If we move fast enough, we may be able to hit London before the Queen can react. My son's fate has always occupied my mind, Sir Ratcliffe. Perhaps I can ask if the Archbishop of Canterbury or our allies in Essex to secure our son's freedom. They are close enough to London to strike quickly before our arrival. But certainly the Queen will be on guard from their directions...

George rubs his head slightly, knowing they had to risk their son's lives to remove the Queen.

Assure His Grace that we will not only save the lives of our sons, but the life of our nephew, the lives of those nobles in peril and the lives of all those in England who certainly live in fear of the Queen. I shall send word to our allies and have them gather their soldiers at Worcester Castle. Once my brother arrives, we will move for London!

"Very well. I shall deliver your words to my liege. As soon as an excuse manifests itself, he will begin his march south." Ratcliffe said with a bow, not knowing that that excuse had just indeed manifested itself some leagues to the north. He cast a meaningful glance at the door. "By your leave, Your Grace."

    Your Grace,

As my men have already assembled in Essex, I would not want to expose them to any potential vulnerability in a march through hostile territory to reach you.As such, I will rendezvous with your forces outside London and in the meantime, screen your march from the East. May God grant you speed and safety.
