This mod would be so much better if it was more like Deus Lo Vult 6.2 where you are completely immersed in to the game and actually care about your characters over the span of their life time!
EB II feels lifeless and so rough around the edges.

EB II feels lifeless and so rough around the edges.
Thanks for that incredibly detailed and insightful feedback.
Sorry but this is just a skin fest like the abomination that is Stainless Steel, with zero depth or intelligent use of scripting and coding that actually makes the game more immersive, strategic and downright addictively satisfying to play.
Deus Lo Vult is the greatest achievment in modding history and soo many players overlook it for crap like SS, the fools! I wait in hope for something as good as DLV for next gen, but i'm not holding my breath. Good games are long gone, sadly.
That sounds pretty vague to me. The trait system in EB II alone is fairly complex and tailored not only to different cultures but also different factions. Then there's the fact that each faction has its own unique path for expansion and government-building, based on shared regional culture. That doesn't even touch upon the massive amount of impressive historical research that goes not only into descriptions of building tree infrastructure and historical unit descriptions, but also the fine details of how the units look on the battle map. It's like something straight out of a Hellenistic Greek sculpted relief or a Roman fresco/mosaic.
Meanwhile, what does DLV do that's so special? In what ways do they present historical realism, which is one of EB II's strongest points? Also, think of all the work the team has done on creating unique ancient town and city models for various cultures on the battle map. Has DLV completely revamped its battle map cities to make them even truer to the time period than SS (which admittedly just uses vanilla M2TW battle map settlements). Perhaps only an M2TW mod like Third Age: Total War has done a more sweeping, grandiose job in this department.
Quintus also makes a good point above: you seem to have made more or less the same post back in 2014. You do realize the mod has changed drastically since then, don't you?
A distracted levy spear unit being crushed to death by the charge of a fully armored cataphract unit should generally rout, in my opinion.
Otherwise, medium infantry in this game are solid as rocks. It takes a lot to get them to budge, and that's a good thing. It's even more hardcore for elite units, who usually don't flee unless they're down to a small handful of men or are being completely surrounded by other elite units.

Everything in life is about personal taste.
Mods are not an exeption my friend. There are hundreds of mods out there. Install them, try them and keep those that fit to your taste and ignore the rest. Just like that. It is not polite to judge the hard work of a team of people that dedicated time and efforts for years to reach this result. You can make a comment as a sugestion but NEVER insult a modding team calling their work abomination.
If you do not like a mod no one forces you to play it.
Actually you have two choices.
1: Ignore it if you do not like it.
2: Create a submod of your own to show/express the diferent essense you want the mod to have. That way others could ALSO judge your "work" by its result.
EACH MODDING TEAM has a spesific prospective of how its sees the matters that wants to include in the mod. From skins to scripts and codding.
Diferent does not mean lesser or better quality. It means diferent point of view and personal taste.
All mods use diferent style of skins for example. Who can deside which are the best? Under what criteria?
Have you ever try to create something similar? Every creator LOVES his/her work like a child. To his/her eyes that work is the best.
The rest of us can agree or disagree. In every case we must thank all of them that give much of their personal time to us to have a pleasant time playing with their work.
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
read this to avoid misunderstandings.
IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

This is unconstructive criticism and therefore utterly useless. If you want to help improve the mod then maybe you could offer something useful instead of giving such completely pointless posts... perhaps give some examples of how DLV is better, what makes it so much more life full ... I really wish you could down vote on this website... I really, really do because this post deserves exactly that!
You want EB2 to be more like DLV, yet you don't say how and what could be done to achieve that.
Nice whining though.
Well I've never heard of DLV before so I just spent an hour watching some gameplay videos of it on Youtube... what's so special about it? It seems to be just about on par with Stainless Steel.
EB and EB2 are like a history book merged with a strategy game. You learn about history as you play them, you become a part of the ancient world, they're immersive.
I could overlook the flat ugly map, the broken and inconsequential trait system (most of the depth and roleplay given to characters in Medieval is through trait and ancillary system that actually matters, see TATW), and the horrible balance in battle (enemies that route instantly in the field, siege battles that last for ever.), but having to fight on bright green battlefields in a desert area or hearing beduoins scream ROMA VICTRIX is a little too much.
Ive been following this mod and posting since about 2011 and its established by now that the scope and ambition of this mod is too big the small on and off team could manage.
I have played many mods for RTW and M2TW, and the map, to my eyes, doesn't seem significantly different.
This is, in small part, true. I have seen a few flaws in the trait system (such as Uncomfortable Supervisor problem), but I suppose that they will be fixed.
I have never experienced such things. And I actually like the battles length; I find it a good compromise between realism and playability. If you want fast battles, EB may not be for you, I guess.
This is a problem that will be fixed, as far as I know, in 2.3.
EB isn't finished yet.
Again, EB II is not finished yet; things are being worked on the improve the mod. And I don't think you are anyone to tell the developers what they aren't capable of doing. It is irrespectful.
I'm not sure immersion is helped by random events cards. That is doing with a computer programme what can be achieved by a board game (throw a one, draw a card, Go to Jail). The immersion in this mod comes from the fact every decision leads to organic consequences, sometimes some way down the road.
I came back to play EB2 - specifically - because it had more involvement and character management (via family tree and scripting) than is possible in historical Rome 2 mods (like DeI) due to bedrock design decisions by CA in recent titles. The EB series has always had the best history aspect of any TW mod (though some got pretty close).
I love how he decided to insult both EB and SS in the same argument.
Dude came in swinging.
I mean, he did not hit anything, but came in swinging nonetheless.
If this guys loves DLV so much then perhaps he could just go and play that instead of whining on here trying to make the EB team feel bad.
I find the strict adherence to historical fidelity to be most appealing and immersive about this mod. All else will be sorted down the road, no rush.
Can't say I agree. Haven't really played previous iterations of the mod, but right now I've started campaigns as KH and Rome, respectively, and they are quite immersive. In fact, the Hellenic faction(s) feel quite polished.
Of particular note are the province descriptions and the government and recruitment systems, both of which are more refined than in EB I, as well as the various reforms.
If you have criticism, it would be immensely helpful if you wrote a detailed critique with concrete examples of things you want to see improved and how. You know, like everyone else does it.
Actually, I think EB I/II has too much scripting, if anything.
True, everything was better in ye olden days, when we played WWII... IRL.Deus Lo Vult is the greatest achievment in modding history and soo many players overlook it for crap like SS, the fools! I wait in hope for something as good as DLV for next gen, but i'm not holding my breath. Good games are long gone, sadly.

Have you been paid or promised that you can touch a girl or something? I mean, your propaganda of DLV is absurd. As was said above, your arguments are a 12 years old like. Either that or you are just a troll.
So, be specific or gtfo.

To me, you clearly sound like a troll, as an experienced modder from a different game I've got quite a few like you that would appear from time to time, why I say this? Well you criticize in a very arrogant way without any kind of argument, you compare this mod to another that for you seems godlike however you didn't say why as if you would assume everyone knows that mod when clearly is not the case and apparently you have done the same a few years ago lol...
"I could overlook the flat ugly map" - Well I guess it's a matter of taste because to me the campaign map in EBII looks much better than any other mod I've seen, the only issue are the mountains, in that I agree they don't look very good (and my graphics card does a weird noise near them lol), I actually like the vanilla ones better but that's it.
However I do think this mod could be improved in terms of immersion for the reasons I've pointed in other threads, no need to repeat them.
