Dante's Comedy in MKTW
Dear community, I had this idea, however I'd like to propose and brainstorm on this idea so we/I can gather more useful info from this book.
As many may know, Dante's Comedy was written in the 1300's in the language they spoke, 'basic Italian' if you like.
Now, I just finished it the other day, and especially in Inferno and Purgatorio (since Paradiso is more a theological work; however, if you find useful information in there, throw it in! As I am writing this, I remember he speaks to Justinian in one of the first canto's, as well as orating on the subject of imperial authority vs. the 'Papal State'.)
So the idea is, maybe we can add a little flavour to text discriptions (and that's why I think we can do this together, since descriptions take quite some time and in this way we can support the team (maybe very marginally, but at least it is something).
Now, I do not know if this has been proposed before, so sorry if there is already an idea/a thread like this one.
As an example we could do something in the campaign with the '7 Seals' pop-up; around 1300, there could be a cool reference to the passage where it is referenced to how the Christians viewed the Muslims; as Dante depicts Mohamed and Ali as 'false prophets' (in 'circle 8' I believe), with the first his hole body split in two and the second only his face.
Please, this is only an example I find to be cool, so don't bash it with 'Muslim hater'. Only, Dante as a Christian would not depict the Christians as false, right? (So maybe someone can do the same for the Muslimfactions, depicting the Christians as 'false believers'.
Another one could be a reference to Justinian and Belisarius when the Latin Empire/Nicea confederates into the Roman Empire (I saw that last day a post where it was suggested some feature like this will happen).
As you can see, just some thougths. Maybe you guys can help streamline these thoughts more and come up with more, or give critique why you think this should not be in the game (or at least not in the form I am proposing).
I have the Comedy in Italian-Dutch (with an explanation of a historian and Italian linguist in the dutch language), so my descriptions can vary from yours. This should not be a huge problem though I think.
I am looking forward to what you say! Have a great day.
PS. Sorry for my English. As you can see, I am not a native speaker

One clarification (that doesn't really change your proposals for the game...): Mohammed and Ali are in their bolge not because they are Muslim but because they are schismatics (and hence are themselves cut up or into). Medieval Christianity understood Islam to be an Abrahamic religion like itself, one that broke away from Christianity, and Ali further broke up Islam. Had Dante written later, Luther would be there, too.
Though I do like the idea of making Florence its own faction!

@ Holy Crow; sorry, I am aware of this nuance, however I do find it difficult to express myself in English.
(Off topic: wether Luther would be in his list I am not quite sure. I think Luther did not want to separate his Church, he simply wanted to rectify what he saw as wrong; but this is a discussion for in another thread
)
I also do not mean to push Florence as a faction. I meant in the bigger scheme of things, that all Christian factions could get this 'Mohamed' line, simply as a campaign flavourer. (Just as the Justinian-Belisarius-theme).
Maybe I should make the question more direct: Do you think Dante's work should be used (mainly as descriptions in the campaign) and if so; how?
