GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY!!!! in a test just to see how weird mac is with rome II and DEI i decided to do a little test. in 1.1 version of DEI if you had a mac you had the same problem we all do, and that is when you load the GC it causes the game to crash to desktop just before it finishes loading. however when you used the Ancient Empires sub mod, suddenly the GC was playable and you could go about your day, but unfortunately hen 1.2 came out, even though it used AE as its basis, the bug made its ugly comeback, and its been sad to say us mac users could no longer play the latest version of DEI again. UNTIL NOW! in a move to see just how silly Mac is, I decided to load a sub mod before the other dei files in a manner similar to the ancient empires trick. the mod I selected was Data Venia. the first "overhaul" sub mod I could find, I noticed that it didn't actually change the stratpos all that much (or even at all) and 90% of its features are just change in numbers and battle mechanics. yet lo and behold. the GC for DEI actually works now. yes you heard me, NO CRASH ON LOADING. MAC USERS REJOICE. all you need to play DEI 1.2.1 is the Data Venia sub mod!!!
Update: Another new interesting thing I noticed is that the reform script is working for mac now, as of a few turns that is, the units are correctly locked off and not immediately recruited, nor does the upgrade script tech to immediately cause all units to update
Update 2: just though I should post what my user script file looks like (if you wish to use everything Data Venia has to offer http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ted-24th-june) )

Update 3: since Dresden has been the kind overlord that he is and made us a sub mod, http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ficial-Submods linked there (cheers dresden, best mod leader on Twcenter, also just moving it to the top for those who do not wish to scroll down) we no longer need to use Data Venia to play DEI 1.2, while there are many things about the campaign left over from DEI the battle mechanics and diplomacy changes are the same as normal 1.2. tho there is something i unfortunately realized today, due to this sub mod using data venia as its base, it does mean the game is 24 turns per year. so before you start a campaign you should download the 4 turns per year submod found on the Data Venia page (linked under update 2) or 12 turns if you want, and in the end your User.script.txt file should look like this if using dresdens version.
