Hi everyone! I'm a new member, and i don't know if there's already a thread for it.
Is there a way for speed up fights and so, battles?
Thanks in advance![]()

Yes, there's a button which accelerates the time.
Otherwise, no, they're supposed to be that way, so you can actually deploy tactics, react to what's going on and so on.
Err, probably I badly explained myself: In EB battles are very long (attack and defence skills of every unit). So, can I change some parameters to reduce unit's hitpoints or however, reduce combat time?
Any solution is well accepted
I think the only way would be to lowerevery single unit stat, so not feasable.
Anyway the length of battles in EB, in my view, it's perfect. You can plan carefully what to do, react in time to what the AI does, and even enjoy the battle aesthetically, since you're able to look more in depth on the battlefield if units don't route instantly.
It's also more historically accurate: real ancient battles lasted an entire day, if not days, but I find EB battles to be a good compromise between realism and playability.
Archers weren't that decisive in this period (not against armoured line infantry), and only the bows of easterners/steppe peoples were powerful enough to be of real danger to them.
Cavalry wasn't like medieval horse that could brush away anything they charged at. Charge into the back of already-engaged infantry, from beyond the minimum charge distance, and they're plenty effective.
Any stat changes to alter battle speed will undoubtedly mess up the balance. However, if you're really desperate for it, just go to the export_descr_units.txt in the \data folder of the mod and up some attack values/decrease some defense values. You can keep playing with these and other stats until you feel the pace is about right, but again, the balance will be quite off.
Also note that any changes you make are non-savegame compatible, so you'll have to start a new campaign to test them or do so in custom battle.
I would recommend to play around with melee hit rate in battle_config.xml unless you have a lot of patience (and a vision) for reworking the edu.Any stat changes to alter battle speed will undoubtedly mess up the balance. In general I think the battles are ok, better than last time I was here few years ago. I feel no immediate urge to edit the edu though I might do some fine tuning later.
I thought battles took too long in EB2 when I first played it as well, but now I realize the speed is perfect. Once your infantry lines start fighting they fight for a good 5 minutes, giving lots of time for cavalry manoeuvreing and so forth.
Only siege battles are a pain in the backside, but they were in real life too. Just besiege the city until they sally out, or auto-resolve if their garrison is tiny.
Thanks to all!reworking the edu is a work too big for me, and i've not that patience! I follow your advice and i'll enjoy EB as it is.
...in this process i just lost a roman campaign of 140 round.![]()
