campaign map farmland
Is there a way to change the campaign map so that it doesnt show the farmland texture on it when you make farms? It makes the whole map look the same and is ugly... Any help would be appreciated. I can edit the map tgas if thats necessary.

Re: campaign map farmland
Instead of changing the map tga's change what is effectively the texture applied to the map.
Look in :
Rome - Total War\Data\terrain\aerial_map\ground_types
I think the one giving the effect you don't like is\:
temperate_grassland_farm.tga
make back up copies of everything and try using a copy of
temperate_grassland.tga
or one of the others you do like and calling it 'temperate_grassland_farm.tga'
they are different sizes but I don't think that matters that just effects how often it repeats.

Re: campaign map farmland
Aahh, actually probably too simple, should work for the north european areas but forgot that the farm.tga gets overlayed on any fertile land in the desert areas etc. so that might look worse. (sorry last time I played with this it was just for a big map of Britain)
You can change map_ground_types.tga so the desert areas etc have less fertile area (each region needs some fertile ground but amount on map doesn't make any difference to growth rate - that's controlled in descr_regions.txt), see :
http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=50437
for key but I think the other ground types, hills and wilderness etc have movement implications.

Well, the one you told me of works fine for rome and anything north of that, some I'm satisfied! Thanks again.
