Default Question about military reforms and mod progress

My first ever steam summer sale purchase was made yesterday. Attila, so that I may hopefully play this mod one day. Units look gorgeous already!

If it doesn't take up too much of your time, could you explain something about how you plan to implement military reforms, or specifically the one to rule them all, the Marian Reforms (and Imperial reforms)?

Also, and I understand this might very well take some time, would it perhaps be a good idea to maybe put up a list of all the work you believe still needs doing? Gives us hyped-up future Caesars something to look at for the time being.

If either question has been asked before, then please accept my apology, I couldn't find the answer in any relevatively recent thread.

They keep saying it's some "copy-pasting" type stuff like db editing or something.

But if they did put up a list of all what needs to be done, they might attract more people to help out so they might have an idea what they would want to help with exactly.

This is true. One reason I, personally, have been hesitant to attract new modders at this moment in time, is I'm on a mission to get this done and out to everyone. The shear depth of what we have done, may cause the release to slow or even worse further delayed, simply by teaching someone who is completely new to the mod, what we need. We are that close.

However, once a release is out, it is vital that we being to develop a new team to help implement further things that would make the game even more fun. I am hoping a submod community can certainly assist.

Definitely agreed, with the current team becoming less and less available (myself included) it would be a huge weight off of our shoulders knowing that after release we can start handing over some of the work that this gargantuan overhaul requires.

We've made quite a lot of progress recently, so the amount of stuff left to do is now less than a page long.

This is good news! How about the reforms?

If I may, I would like to take this discussion bback to my initial question: "Could you explain something about how you plan to implement military reforms, or specifically the one to rule them all, the Marian Reforms (and Imperial reforms)?".

In addition to this, I noticed today that Caesar was born in 100 BC and Pompey in 106 BC. Augustus was born even further down the road, in 63 BC if I am correct. With 4 turns per season to take advantage of season climates, this would mean these great generals would be born respectively 408, 384 and 556 turns into the grand campaign. Even I, bneing an inexperienced player of the Total War-franchise, must say this is rather late. Is this correct? And if so, is there any way to fix this?

Reforms for now, will be done by tech upgrades. However, I would like to implement a scripted reform in the future. But that is not the top priority.

As for the characters, yes that is correct. Hopefully some submods will giving you different timeframes and differen playing experiences.

    Thanks!

    Ave Centurion,

This is in fact the answer was hoping for. My senatorial vote would go to the ability for us Caesares (is that right?) to what I believe to be Total War's original function: to re-write history.

The logistical issue concerning the characters remains a shame. But it is not that bad to be honest.

As I have said in a few places, I fully intend to make a submod. At the very least converting some of my mod over to AE (I REALLY like the changes I have made, and from the sounds of AE I think they will mostly fit well), but I am very much considering a Marian-Sullan submod, going from the Jugurthine War to the death of Sulla, inlcuding the civil war and the Social War. I have also thought of making a submod of Caesar's planned conquest of Parthia, a "what if Caesar had listened to the assassination rumors and not dismissed his lictors like a freakin' idiot, survived the assassination attempt, and then went East to kill those Crassus-killin' sons-o-!" campaign.

We are very much interested in the social wars too, large parts of our building mechanics for Rome revolve around the Italian Socii reforms and how that all worked, it should be super interesting for sure! Also hoping to eventually make a script to make the whole of Italy rise up against you and so you'll need to start giving them citizenship to make it stop.

So I think your submod will definitely have a place with AE
