    Default Winning Combo Mod v2.1 -- (Obsolete)

    THIS MOD HAS BECOME OBSOLETE AND WILL NOT BE UPDATED OR SUPPORTED.

    Hi folks.

    I appreciate all of the positive feedback and support for my feeble combo mod efforts in the early days of the game's release. I do not plan on continuing this particular effort because I was just trying to fill a need in the early days; there are now plenty of better & bigger mods that are available and that is only going to continue to grow.

    Maybe someday I will dabble again. Until then, happy gaming!

    Cheers,
    Val

    UPDATED (10 Jan 2007)

    Version 2.1 released! New "BigMap" and "Lite" variations!

    Download "BigMap" version 2.1 version here: WinningComboMod_21_BigMap

    Download "Lite" (Vanilla Map) version 2.1 here: WinningComboMod_21_Lite

    Download previous version 2.0 here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...o=file&id=1002

    v2.1 -- Updated to newest version of component mods --- removed skins
    * Latest version of Orientiss Vices & Virtues (10 Jan 2007)
    * DarthMod v1.2 w/Open Source
    * Ultimate AI v1.0
    * BigMap v1.06 w/extended regions (BigMap version only)
    * Horsearcher's unit charge project (overwrites part of Darth)
    * REMOVED theMango55 Tyrian Purple
    * REMOVED Rammstein Gothic unit reskin
    * REMOVED Burreks Unique Europeans, Early Period reskin

    Removal of skins note: I like these skins, and I highly recommend them. However from what folks tell me, you have to download and install reskins into your vanilla M2TW data folder for them to work... and some folks didn't want them... they are easy to intall on your own, so I pulled them out. On the plus side, the combo mod is a much smaller download size now.

    Previous version 2.0:
    * Removed Heraldry 2.0 -- I like it but it's a little unfair for AI, which cannot take advantage. You can still add it if you want for yourself.
    * Removed Zxiang animation files --- unused w/Darth, so not needed
    * Latest version of Orientiss Vices & Virtues
    * DarthMod v1.1 w/Open Source
    * Ultimate AI v0.8
    * BigMap v1.05 w/extended regions
    * Horsearcher's unit charge project (overwrites part of Darth)
    * theMango55 Tyrian Purple - A Byzantine Reskin
    * Rammstein Gothic unit reskin
    * Burreks Unique Europeans, Early Period reskin

    Disclaimer: I did not create any of these mods. Every mod that I have used is listed below in this thread, and all credit goes to the individual modders who have provided their work to the rest of us. All I have done is combine the versions of each of these mods that are available today. I cannot help you trouble-shoot if you have problems. If you do need some help please take a look at some of the links I have provided below... that's how I've learned how to do this stuff!

    Installation:
    1. Put everything in your main M2TW directory
    2. Use the provided .bat file to launch

    This mod does not include Horsearcher's Weather & Blood mod, however I highly recommend it and it's completely compatible with my mod:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=72240

    This picture barely does justice to Horsearcher's mod... here you see an early morning assault by the Scots on the rebel city of Dumfries:

    Nice to here. Put them all together in a download link for those of us that suck at putting things together?

    I agree BigMapp99i/ExtendedEdition 1.03 rocks. I tried AD but too many ctd's. DarthMod Lite I couldn't get it's start up bat. to work. As for the others I haven't tried them yet.

    Hmmm. I'm giving all the Bigmaps a pass for awhile until the CTD's are less common.

    Otherwise, i see we have very similar games running. Though what made you decide to run DariusEGs BattleMechanics v0.7 and not Sinuhets Battle Mechanics 1.0???

    I may swap the battle mod to Darius if i see reason enough. Though at the moment, well, my previous game that went to turn 35, the AI was plenty aggressive enough and improved over Vanilla. Though i still think modders should think about toughening up the morale of all fighting units in this game. Still way way way to much running scared. I realize we can turn morale off in preferences. But that's an extreme that's unrealistic.

    With some exceptions. We should never see a retreating unit in any army that is defending a city or castle from a seige because there is no where really to go.

    I may try my next campaign with morale set to "0" just to see if that's more fun. It certainly is realistic in many battles in human history of that time. Muslims certainly had the fenaticism to not surrender on many occasions. As will ever army defending or taking a critical enough asset.

    Fatigue is set too high as well. That could be set about 50% less and be better realism. Sould a man tire so much after running a quarter mile in armor? 440 yards.

    How did you use the Ultimate AI and zxiangs fix when the Darth mod also includes other fixes for these (Shaba Wangy's diplomacy mod and Lusted's 2H fix)? What did you do to use the former and not those automatically part of the Darth mod? I'm interested in Darth mod but want these other two fixes instead. Thanks.

    Great question. First let me say that I'm not a modder, I have just enough computer knowledge to poke around and try out different combinations of mods, and maybe even peek under the hood and do a couple of tweaks... but that's it. For me it's pure magic how these folks can do all this neat wizardry with modding different aspects of the game.

    The short of it is that you've gotta know what files are affecting what. I remove the SW AI files after I install DarthMod because I have downloaded the SW mod and I know exactly what files she uses. Once they're deleted I install the Ultimate AI mod. Same for things like Lusted's 2H fix. I spend a lot of time reading the Readme files that almost everyone includes and making sure I really understand what they are changing and then I poke around the files they include to see what's what. Sometimes I combine mods that just don't work... either a CTD or just un-fun gameplay. Sometimes (like right now) I get really lucky and have a super-fun game.

    With that said, let me point you to some good information that I've been reading posted by folks who know better than I do how to set all of this kind of stuff up: (I do need to point out that a lot of these threads are the stickies... WORTH READING STICKIES!! )

    (Edit: I've moved all of the links up to the top instead of buried down here... please go take a look up at the top! )

    Thats a good idea dude! Thats what i do to..
    This is the best of CA. Its so cool. If i mess up... Oh well.. Just get rid of it. No reload the game.. Like I did before ..

    I haven't seen or used Sinuhets Battle Mechanics mod so I'll give that a try in my next game. DariusEGs is pretty well tried, true, and tested and most folks seem to like it. I know I do.

    My combo is nice and simple.

    Anno Domini 9.0
    Shaba Wangys' diplomecy 1.5 BETA
    and of coarse my shield wall mod

    These are a nice stable combo and is fairly similar to vanilla which is what i like.

    • BigMap99i w/ExtendedEdition 1.03 (I started out liking AD but BigMap really is the way to go right now)

    • UltimateAI v0.5 (Looks like v0.6 just got released; I've gone back and forth between SQ and UAI and UAI is the winner)
    • Zxiang animation fixes
    Anyway, this is a great stable combo that I've really enjoyed playing the last two days. I'm definitely interested to hear what other folks are playing as well.

    Cheers,
    Val

    If you could put those all into 1 handy file i would love it.

    * Enables you to play with each turn being equal to one year, with the years displayed on the user interface rather than the turn number. [only applies to 1-year-per-turn version]
    * Changes all build times, they are all now twice their original number (since you have twice the number of turns now). [only applies to 1-year-per-turn version]
    * Adds English Armored Sergeants, HRE Dismounted Gothic Knights, and Venician Dismounted Broken Lances to the campaign game.
    * Includes Lusted's Two-handed unit animation fix (some units that use two-handed weapons didn't function properly).
    * Includes Lusted's Venetian Archer and Heavy Infantry armor upgrade fix.
    * All factions are unlocked.
    * Includes zxiang1983's ballista/cannon tower fix.
    * Includes various typos and mistakes in the traits file (export_descr_character_traits.txt). Corrections include the following:

    1. Added triggers to princess traits. Thanks to Olmsted.
    2. Corrected error where Great Cathedral doesn't grant bishop trait. Thanks to Nebuchadnezzar.
    3. Corrected error where "BoringSpeaker" trait had no effects. Thanks to Orientis.
    4. Corrected error where "WifeIsFertile" trait only effected admirals and not other family members. Thanks to Orientis.
    5. Corrected error where "ReligionStarter" trait wasn't available to family members. Thanks to Orientis.
    6. Corrected error where "LoyaltyStarter" trait wasn't available to family members. Thanks to Orientis.

    * Nothing else is changed. Literally.

    I play nearly the same mod as Valkirah is .
    I havent tried bigmap yet , probebly will give it a go in my next campaign but im using the VnV agent fixes by Orientis , there is no reason whatsoever to not have this mod installed since its fantastic aswell
    I also added SW diplomacy file into the mix added by the victory conditions from lusted CTW and his splash/loading screens together with 2 other files that none of the other mods where using .
    Thank god for medmanager
