Yeah you should be OK turning all settings up to max on that, the only one to look for would be the unit size, obviously - so don't go expecting to run max settings and thousands of units perfectly.

If your going to spend the money on an 8800 get the GTX version not the GTS version.

You can overclock the GTS to have performance close to that of a stock GTX and for a fair bit cheaper as well. Look out for the corsair anniversary ram, people have been recording some monster overclocks with that too.

Otherwise you could save a bit on the processor, get the 6300 and use the extra money for a gtx if you really want, but your spec, as is, with a few overclocks should be fine to have everything all maxed out.

Incorrect, dual cores bottleneck the 8800 series, so saving money on a cheaper processor will lower overall performance.

To be honest, for gaming, getting either an EX6700 or an 8800 series, but not both, is a waste of money.

If the OP is currently planning building that system from scratch, its a badly balanced set of components that will see performance strangled by either his RAM or his CPU.

I would be more inclined to get a lesser card and a better CPU, but if people want to show off expensive components instead of high performance, thats up to them.

that indeed would be a nice rig to run this game with.

Hey I'm thinking of getting the 'Intel core 2 quad extreme qx6700'. You think I should go for it or wait till mid 2007 to see what AMD come up with. by then the second patch should be out as well. I just want to run this game on the highest possible settings.

AMD's not going to come out with something of that caliber for a while. Go for it.

No, not maxed out with huge units and a resolution of 1280X1024 or higher. You'll be close but Extreme shadows, huge units, 16X Anisotopic filtering and 4x Anti-alaising will bring the system your proposing to it's knees, especially after the 1.1 patch....

All you really NEED are high grass, unit detail, texture detail, and medium or low shadows, to get the full experience. Above that, its just improving on that stuff. And yes, it can look a lot better, but its not a huge issue.

I think he can. I'm on an A64 3700+ with an 8800GTS playing at 1680x1050 4xAA 16xAF Max settings and High shadows. My 3700+ rears it's ugly bottleneck when I'm in massive siege battles dropping the framerate to around 10FPS. Other than that, I can happily report an average of above 30FPS.

I have basically everything at max on my system. A run at 1440X900. ONly on battles with more than 3 armies to I really lag.

    P4 3.0 Ghz
    1 gb DDR2 ram
    ATI X1800CT 256mb

    AA is at 4X
    Anisotopic Filtering at 4X

I think you should be alright. But doesn't dual core slow down M2TW? I thought I read that somewhere.

How can you do that with a P4 3 Ghz processor? I have 2.8 Ghz P4 and when I try to get 3 armies into a battle (like it doesnt lag enough with 2) a message comes up saying that my processor isnt good enough. I have everything on the lowest except unit models and I have large unit scale.

Is it possible for me to get a good video card for $60? One that can work good with MTW2 around that price range.

For around $300 you can get a Nvidia 6800GS which is the best budget card ever.

Mine along with my other specs runs MTW2 max graphics, all the bells and whistles and huge unit size with no trouble. All I had to do was disable V-Synch.

The simple fact is that the 6800GS is a stallion and can beat most more expensive cards hands down.

Ronin I am Aus too and haven't bothered getting MTW2 because I struggle with RTW. Are you talking AU$300?

Could you tell me your specs because I am going to get a PC soon specifically to play MTW2 at max settings - how much?

I will buy new if I have to but my computer shop dude is pretty good (once u know what you want) at putting together a cheap package with only labour costs.

Yeah I meant AU$300 but if you shop around I reckon you could even find it for around $250.

    My basic specs are:

    - Winfast Nvidia 6800GS 256MB
    - Intel P4 Processor (Apparently duel core 3.4 GHTZ but I can't attest to that, I misplaced the silly box).
    - 2 Gig DDR2 Corsair RAM (Corsair is the best gaming RAM).
    - 200GB SATA hardrive.
    - LG DVD reader/writer.

My card was only 200, and works very well in this game. But a 6800S is definantly a good one.

I bought a 6800GS AGP a while ago on the summer for dirt cheap (200) on newegg, It was on sale, (now you can get it IF you have an AGP board for about 160 bucks) .

Later on I got an ATI 1600XT, because my 6800GS has a problem of not turning on many times, unless i restart the PC several times, but once it's running, there is no problem.

2 weeks of using the ATI, I put back my semi-working 6800GS, because it's far more powerful, and I rather restart my PC 3-4 times instead of watching a slide show with the ATI card.

I also OC-ed it and opened up to the 16pipelines with the riva-tuner and it's running good ever since and every game is fluid on med-high settings (my CPU is rather old).
