    Default Wow? (Performance MTW2)

I'm kind of in a bit of shock. I was told MTW2 was a demanding power hungry beast but it seems to be quite the tigers kitten.

I can run the game on max graphics with all the bells and whistles, 4xAA, 16xAF, 1280x1024 battle resoloution and huge unit settings and the game runs as smooth as butter on a babies bottom .

I don't notice a slowdown until 6000 units appear onscreen at once and that rarely ever happens as a full two stack fight is usally 4500-5500 troops. Even then the slow down isn't too bad, the camera still moves to and fro fluenty and smoothly. Getting up close to the action see's the troops move with a bit of a jerk in their stride though.

Here's my specs for those that would like to know.

    - LG L1750SQ LCD 8ms.
    - Windows Professional Edition.
    - Winfast 6800GS NVIDIA 256MB
    - 2 Gig DDR2 Corsair RAM.
    - Intel P4 3.4 Duel Core Processor.
    - 200GB hardrive.

I'm thinking after a defrag the game will run even smoother than now. So whats with all the panic? Even on my dated graphics card the game runs great!

The game isnt powerhungry at all, its actually very stable and efficent (except on dual core processors.. Intel Core 2 Duo consumer waiting for the support here ). My only personal gripe is that my Video card cant run 20,000+ troops at a smooth frame rate .. thats just a little picky though. good game I must say
    -- specs
    ATI Radeon x850 xt
    OCZ DDR400 2 gig ram
    AsRock LGA 775 Dual-VSTA mobo w/agp and pci-e slots
Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 2.4 stock at 2.6ghz (no voltage adjustments.. gay mobo, no options for it at all )

I run at a smooth fps rate in battle with 10,000 less troops, max settings no AA though.

    WOW!

My PC spec if VERY similar to that your's Ronin but i am having big issues with my Framerate.

Only really differances in our specs is i am using a Athlon Dual Core 3800+ and DDR1 Ram, but still 2Gb's.

I suspect that my Vid Card is dying. I Used to able to run at 1280x1024 with good frames, but i've had tod rop it to 1024x768 and the frames are STILL worse then before for no apparent reason.

Is there anything i can use to test the RAM on my Vid Card?

There is no Intel Pentium 4 Dual-core manufactured.... Actually, no company manufactures 3.4ghz proc's.... The 3ghz range for proc's used to dominated by intel, but now both companies have realised that ghz don't matter as much as other factors....

The 3800 was also made for Skt 939, and it much better than a P4.

    Intel Pentium 4 670 is clocked @ 3,6ghz
    Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 965 @ 3.73GHz
    Intel Pentium D 960 @ 3,6 ghz

and yes, of course the micro arhitecture of the cpu counts the most nowadays, those old intel pentium 4 and d-s are mostly good for cookin if u take them up at 4 ghz or somethin

I think he means a Pentium D, and I am sure I have seen them clocked at 3.4GHz.
Well he said P4, so meh

    Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 965 @ 3.73GHz
    Intel Pentium D 960 @ 3,6 ghz
It doesnt matter, the point is that Intel is no longer making those CPU's. The X6800 or whatever they have, their flagship, may be 3.0ghz, but I am not sure. If ghz mattered, then we would have seen a 3.0ghz + version of the E6300

    Wow. I have:

    Athlon 64-bit 4000.
    Dual 7800 GTs in SLI
    2gb ram
    Win XP Home.

There is no way in hell I can run a 4000-5000 troop battle that smoothly with EVERYTHING on max. Everything on max but with shadows on none is fine, but add another full stack army or turn on Shadows and it becomes very difficult to play without the framerate distracting me.

Yes, CA did great here. MTW2 runs just as well for me as Rome did, despite the higher graphics demands. I'm only chugging along with an x800 and the only sacrifice I make is dropping down the unit size by one. Normally a critic, I highly applaud CA's attempt to keep this game obtainable to a wide range of computer specs.

A proper Core Duo support would be a nice thing. Besides, game runs smooth and seems well optimized despite of high visual quality.

I agree, CA have really raised the bar with MTW2. After Rome I had my doubts but CA have reminded me they are a good company after all. I also congradulate SEGA for at least a partial effect on this turnaround.

With my processor. I'm not sure what it is exactly but I do know that under my computer (it shows me my specs) it shows two CPUs one clocked at 3.4 and one clocked at 3.2 GHTZ. I'm sure of this.

Does MTWII have major problems with the Core 2 Duo?

I think what most people is complaining about is the fact that M2TW runs less than 30FPS, so they think their PC can't handle it. But M2TW is a RTS, it don't need 40+ FPS to run smoothly. Your PC is perfectly fine at 16FPS, there's no difference.
