    Icon5 Dispensation

Given the relation between Isabel of Gloucester and John FitzAlan, Lord Arundel, upon the advice of the King, Lord Buckingham sends a message to the Pope for a dispensation.

    Your Holiness,

Some days ago, the restored Earl of Arundel, John FitzAlan requested to wed my sister, Lady Isabel, daughter of the late Thomas of Woodstock, granddaughter of Edward III and niece to His Grace, Henry of Bolingbroke. Upon speaking with my royal uncle, I was reminded of the close affiliation of blood ties between our family, as my mother's mother was the sister of the Baron Maltravers and the late Lord Arundel, thus aunt of my Lord Arundel. Furthermore, his mother was my mother's aunt, thus making the ties relatively close in blood.

I ask for a dispensation to allow this marriage. However, if it is God's Will that Isabel marry another, I shall accept the judgment of the Church.

    Signed,
Humphrey of Buckingham, Duke of Buckingham.

    1-5 is no,
    6-20 is yes.

    -5 due to close consanguinity,
    +2 due to charisma.

Final chance: 1-8 is no, 9-20 is yes.

    Roll: 4

The Bishop of Rome, Boniface IX, sends a missive in response, denying the request for a Papal dispensation, stating that the closeness of blood between the two would break the laws of the church should they be married. However, the Holy Father commends their seeking of a dispensation, as others in the past have not been so faithful in the following of the Church's law.
