    Default "Battle speed"

    Hey guys, I was wondering if there are any planned changes for combat speed. Seems to me like one of the bigger knocks on Attila was the "arcadey" feel it had as far as battle speed went. It's nothing like Warhammer but a fair amount of people including myself was left feeling like the battles end too fast not only because of smart tactical choices e.x breaking an enemy's morale but the units themselves while engaged with each other die too fast. So my question is as said above, is this mod going to change the battle speed and if so to what extent.

    DEI speed is pretty good. Combat should be slower and draining indeed.

    first time poster - just got Attila to play this mod - from my impressions of playing the custom battles- they are very fast - like 2-3 minutes fast with full stack vs full stack. If possiable I would like the units /killing time to be so fast. REally impressed so far. I am assuming factions that have only 1 or 2 tiers are unfinished or is this purposeful? Last question, will there be Area of Recruitment when you take over another region ect..?

    @dogukan, Ideally we want a game to last from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

    1. We have to find an ideal balance between people who enjoy the comfortable leisure of micro managing large numbers of units without missing opportunities, versus players who want to be able to play the game for a limited time without having to stop mid-battle to go somewhere because of needs. Then there are also the people who like the thrill of seeing things explode into instant guts due to a hard charge.
    2. Nope. Every faction will get three tiers of units.
    3. Depends on the faction and region.

    Thats a damn long time for just a single battle. It'd only really be enjoyable for multiplayer, having to fight hundreds of battles of that length in a campaign would certainly get boring quickly for me personally.

    It sounds great with a slow pace! That's what I liked about Roma Surrectum, EB etcetera. Especially if you make mechanics like army losses viable since then a player could focus on the AIs weaker units with shock/fear-tactics to collapse their whole force if they want to end it quickly for some reason.

    And for those who prefer a faster pace you could simply add an official submod to accommodate their taste.

    Yes, also from AI standpoint, battles should take between 15-20 minutes on 20v20 in open field, twice that during siege. Anything longer just makes it easier for the player as it kills the AI, which already cripples itself often in Attila due to moving out of combat for no reason and then getting 1 shot killed due to awkward Attila design chocie that moving units are auto killed. In other words, the slower you make it, the easier it gets for the player.

    does the speed of the battle have to do with difficulty? for example - I played on very hard - BTW I am very familiar with TW series and not a novice - like I am not bad is all I am saying and not used to losing against ai

    1st match: (very hard difficulty)
    Georgians (tier 1 units only) (Me) vs Mongols tier 1 (AI) all Calvary (with historical mix of HA and HC) = literally destroyed (massacre) in 3 minutes (using full stacks and almost equal money)

    2nd: (very hard)
    Swiss (tier 2) (Me) vs Mongols tier 2 (same as above Calvary composition) = destroyed in 5 minutes but a little more causalities on mongol side than before ------(pikemen )

    3: (Very hard)
    Tueutonic order (Me) (focusing on arrow defense ..shields ect...) vs Mongols tier 2 (same as above carvery composition)= 7 minutes close battle - their light HA lasted the longest and they won and widdled me down

    wanted to add - I like losing ---makes the game more fun - so my biggest request to make the battles as hard as possible without being game breaking

    ok tried it again on very hard - much different outcome - won this time - close battle though

    one of the better tw battles I have ever had and this mod isn't even finished very impressed guys!
