First of all, this thread is for praising paella, not baguettes. The very best of baguettes can hardly compete with mediocre paella, and will pale in comparison with a truly delicious, savory, succulent paella.

Second of all, if this Euro meet-up ever becomes something else besides idle talk, I can chip in for Akar's plane tickets if others do too. To party at BerluscHorny's house without the horny little devil would be just pretending to have fun.

To be honest, I am very surprise there have never been an organized meetup. I know years ago that GED vacationed in England he met with a few people while there and I think another two or three people had an informal meetup as well. (read ti somewhere years ago).

Unfortunately, it is tough to meetup with COVID19. I may be leaving China, but if I stay, there is a 14 day quarantine coming back in.

I "met" someone here on TWC before I ever became a member of TWC. It was Lord Rahl. We apparently took the same modern Chinese history class (less than 20 students) in Texas. We only figured this out after the fact, unfortunately.

I'm not the one who brought the baguette subject. and actually, our local dishes are more the Flemish carbonnade, the potchevleesh, the mould-french fries, the smoked herring, the Bergue cheese and the ice with the chicorey and speculos. Even the Spanish with their paella didn't last here
