    Its tasty?^^

The Greeks love the lambs, the Germans the veals (and the pigs).

And a "Sauerbraten" must be from horse on Christmas for me.

What's the difference between scaloppina and cotoletta?

Haha, that sounds so backwards from my perspective. A guy wanting to recreate those dismal conditions for PC. The only scenario in which I could consider getting a console is one in which the console came with a keyboard and a mouse.

as far as I know more than the kind of meat is how you cook it: cotoletta is fried, scaloppina is cooked on a pan, but cotoletta is also very regional, in some areas it even means chop (like in pork chops). Much to my scorn, I just discovered that both terms come from the French, dammit

@Flinn: Is the scaloppina also rolled in a "pannade" from old buns before cooked?

I think "pannade" come from french too.^^

I suppose you refer to what we call "panatura" in Italian, I mean using old bread crumbs to encase the meat before cooking it. If so, then no, that's the cotoletta which gets this treatment

what hurts me isn't money, but time. I'd rather spend 60€ on a well made 10h game where I can get the maximum enjoyment in a reasonable amount of time, than a free to play grind fest. But all the 60€ price tag tells me is that this game isn't finished yet. Plus then a very similar calculation to Iskar's Schnitzel calculation kicks in. With the twist that when I buy something I do so fooling myself that I'll only procrastinate for some very few hours before being productive again.

Same as with series, come to think of it. Watch an entire 2h movie?! OMG NO WHO HAS TIME. Binge an entire season's worth of 40 min episodes? Yes please!

I never buy a full price game on steam unless

    A) It's something I've wanted for a loooong time and I can't wait for it to go one sale. For me this is a big deal cause I never get excited about most games.

    B) It has 85%+ positive user reviews on Steam.

Do you remember the times back in the old forums, where some hotseatlers wrote that they got no time to play their turn (which was overdue for several days), and yet five minutes later the very same person wrote in some other strategy game forum, asking how to do this and that. I love that level of delusion.

I think it's very much up to what one considers worth one time, and what is considered "work"

Same here. The older I get, the less I want to feel like I am working for the game, doing repetitive tasks that I am happy that I actually do not have to do at work.

Grind has become the number one turnoff for me, although there is a fine line in between what is grind and what is not. A long Total War campaign with lots of resource management can be very gratifying, but story games that artificially make the game longer for some real or imagined demographic that likes to do same things over an over again is something like a "never again" thing for me. Intentional grind elements are often also immersion killers because they are so implausible.

I still cannot believe I got Mafia III without checking out if reviews complaining about grind are around. That is a textbook example of how you can ruin a game with nice atmosphere and cinematics by suddenly sending the player from the storyline to the arcadey factory line.

A good observation but a sad state of affairs.

I know the feeling. I think that also has to do with way how series makers play with our dopamine system, an issue you have addressed as well in some other contexts. Movies are built differently, I think.

It could be delusion, but also lack of respect for other people's time.

As i get older, oftentimes i find myself feeling betrayed when im playing a game instead of doing something constructive. Time becomes more valuable when you realize that most of your life is already gone.

    It's all about perspective

When I celebrated my 40th birthday, during my speech, I said "Thank you for being here pals, rejoicing with me for the first third of my life"

Ye but that's the thing right? The more you game the fewer pals you'd have to hold your speech to.
