Have you tried creating a YouTube playlist with just 1 track and setting it to repeat? I've done that once before when I wanted to record my voice over some audio to send up one of my mates.

Not yet - but I've also got the problem with YouTube that I'd need the premium version to avoid ads! That's why I'd started trying to play from mp3s stored on the tab in the first place...

My watch (Garmin thing with music) will repeat, repeat/shuffle etc. but playing music from it runs the battery down really quickly

You don't use Adblock Plus? Granted, even with it I still occasionally get the annoying "Are you still there?" prompt after listening to a music playlist in a background tab after a while.

Also, YouTube Premium can be purchased for really cheap (less than $3 AU, which is $12~ less than normal) by registering for it using a VPN connected to a server in India.

I activated this the other week so I can watch ad-free videos on my tablet while I wait for my new PC to arrive (my old one died recently).

Before anyone wonders: yes, you can use your existing YouTube/Google account, and no, you don't always need to remain connected to a VPN server in India; you don't need a VPN again once you've submitted the payment. Any fake Indian address will do (I used "Dehli Deli"). I don't know why it's so easy, but it is.

Youtube has a loop feature btw, no need to create a 1-vid playlist. If you right-click on the vid when watching it the first option it gives you is loop.
