Who's your favorite singer/songwriter?

I'm not sure if this has been descussed before or not, but I'm gonna non-the-less.

Who is your favorite singer/songwriter of all time?

I find this question quite hard to answer absolutely. I kind of have a collection of them, more than just one. But if I was going to pick one I would either choose Corey Taylor (slipknot,stone sour), Chad Gray (mudvayne) or B.B. King (you know).

I love all three artists. Corey can sing hardcore and beautifuly soft, Chad Gray has the same ability... all the while they are singing awsome lyrics. But then, there's B.B. King, my all time favorite blues guitarist. He can sing, get a little hardcore at times and then pick the hell out of a guitar. I can't decide between those three for my favorite.

So, if you can choose, what is your all time favorite singer/songwriter?

Ooo, this is a toughy. It would definitely be a three way tie breaker between George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Ray Davies.

But that's the point, I'm asking about the singer who also writes their own lyrics, not just some pop star who thinks they got skills cuz they can vabrado.

it's perfectly rational. Who's your favorite singer who writes their own songs? What's not rational about it?

anyhoo, mine's Maynard James Keenan. Can do a wide range of stuff from very melodic (a perfect circle's 3 libras) to heavy (tool's vicarious) You know he's good because he sound amazing not only on record, but also live. And the stuff he writes makes you really think.

Does rap come into song? Because it'd be leaning towards Nas with 2Pac not far behind, those guys can rhyme.

Tough one. John Lennon and Bob Marley are up there. I would say Roger Waters but he doesn't sing too much. Freddy Mercury definately for singer (kind of for songwriter)

Simple answer - Billy Corgan. An absolute genius when it comes to songwriting, and his songs sound wrong sang by any one else. I've heard many covers, even a semi-official cover album, and they just. Don't. Work.

I think you should re-valuate your logic.

Favorite song-writers... all of the Beatles (they usually contributed towards creating each other's songs), Bob Marley, and if we talk about the classics, definitely Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Mozart, and Beethoven.

Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello & Billy Bragg.
