    Default (Mac) Unable to run game after unpacking and vanilla modding

    Hello Total Warriors! First time posting here. I have the Mac version of Medieval 2 Total War, ported by Feral. I run it through Steam. I game runs flawlessly.

    I wanted to change a few things here and there to the vanilla game and paste TAW's diplomacy fix onto the descr_faction_standing.txt file. I unpacked the game files through Wineskin (through a cumbersome but do-able process) and read that the command --io.file_first needs to be inputted into the launch options. I did that in the Feral Launcher and the medieval2.preferences.cfg file to no effect. However, upon inputting the command in the Steam Launcher Options, I get a fatal error 361.

    I really need this to work. I have a long vacation ahead and this is eating me up. Please oblige.


    TL;DR I unpacked M2TW on my mac and game file modifications are NOT showing in-game. Please help!

    Is there a guide anywhere on unpacking the Mac + steam version of M2TW? I'm having trouble myself.

    4 years later and I'm having this exact issue in Ubuntu with the diplomacy fix. Unpacked everything fine, modified medieval2.preference.cfg but it did nothing and "--io.file_first=true" in steam launch options causes fatal error 361. Anyone find a solution by now? Should I try making a mod folder instead of using file_first? Any help would be appreciated.
