PSU Cant Handle GPU 50Mhz Memory Clock Increase?
My old PSU died. A Hiper Power 425watt something or rather. I took it to the store hoping to get a refund and buy a new one, perhaps a Antec as I knew the name as being a maker of high quality stuff. The guy wouldnt give me a refund although within the warranty but he decided they could fix it and give it back to me later. This still left me PSU-less so I got a Antec Earthwatts 430watt PSU anyway. I install it, everything is great, play some Hitman Blood Money on highest settings, notice the frame rate isnt as high as usual, realise that the changes I made to my 128mb 6800XT have been resetted. So I go to Rivatuner, make a 25Mhz increase on the 325Mhz core, just to make things look neater at 350Mhz. Then I take the memory clock up 50 from 700Mhz, test, another 50, test, computer crashes as soon the game starts (as in as soon as it goes ingame rather than crashing at the title menu or something).
Maybe this has something to do with the amps on the rails. I don't know much of this subject but im quite sure on this PSU there is 16Amps on the 12+V rail, the old PSU had 17. Wouldnt of thought the small increase would be so sensitive though.

Maybe because you overclocked your 6800XT too much? Do the PSU still work?

Do you have something else being powered off the same rail the graphics card is on? i.e. a HD or fan controller?
It's been my experience that graphics cards REALLY like to have their own dedicated rail without anything else draining its' power.

You got it Pent_Up_Rage, cheers, I never thought that would be an issue. BTW the overclock is the same as what I had set with the previous PSU
