    Default Eras Confusion

Since the game starts in 1212ad, i was just wondering how the unit eras work.

Do they correspond with the dates of the real early/high/late periods, or do they work differently? Because for me the early units look about mid high middle ages (1200s), high era units look about early late (mid-late 1300s) and late units look about mid 1400s-1500s.

Please let me know if i'm being confusing.

For some odd reason, Warman decided to include an early to late naming system to represent the different tiers. It has nothing to do with the actual medieval eras.

For some factions they do. I know I patterned the Mongols along those general lines and zsimmortal looks to be doing the same, but I was never given a single, focused answer. If anything I did think it was about era's. I just don't know enough about western europe to see if that is right or not.

A new 2d logo might be warranted:

Instead of 1-3 tiers, which indicated a mark of quality.

    I
    II
    III

rather this typology, which indicate which century the units represent.

    XIII
    XIV
    XV

This makes the logo match it's intended purpose in an intuitive way.

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

You could even change the bit that says "Tier 2" to "XIV Century" for example, rather than just changing the icon related to Tier 2.

I can't access my modding computer for about 8 hours so I can't help atm. Either ask someone from Rise of Mordor who's online or look for a text file called uied or something along those lines. Its in a huge file containing text for a whole range of things ranging from what each main menu button is called to "Tier 1", "Tier 2" and "Tier 3" which is what you're looking for.

I think warman has the Rise of Mordor pack, he can check.

It would be nice to know what period units were from.

Every faction differs with technology as in 13th century the moors(Arab ummayad rulers) devolped explosive progectiles were used as early gunpowder and Europe still use spearmen and peaseants but in mid13th century to 14th the cannon and bombard founded as a military artillary but it was used before as standing bombard as shore defences at Alexandria ,Egypt ...
In total we cannot mark the unit as xii century related .we could mark it as ascending order of the date it's appearance each culture in its specific timeframe ..but tier 1/2/3 is not so fair for some factions as Ayyubids in the tier 3 will have only mamluks archer and mamluk guards and and mamluk*...etc thus the building system will cover this up by replacing old units with the time fram appreciated units ..
