Thread: Total War: Warhammer II announced

I have enjoyed some of CA mini campaigns in the past but to me quality has been quite uneven. Especially with Warhammer releasing a mini campaign with only a single playable faction seems a waste. Zero replay and even worse the map design gave 2/3 or more of the map to filler factions that player will rarely interact with in the course of completing mini campaign. I'd prefer the addition of 2 new legendary lords with new quest battle maps than the mini campaigns we've seen in Warhammer so far. Of course if CA did a better job on the mini campaigns I'd prefer those but thinking back to the mini campaigns CA has done I've only really enjoyed 3 out of something like 8 or so. Caesar in Gaul was the most fun, then Peninsular campaign in Napoleon, and apparently Age of Charlemagne was NOT a mini campaign but a FULL campaign so then I've enjoyed 2/6 mini campaigns? If all the mini campaigns were closer to AoC as far as making use of the map and number of playable factions (not necessarily new rosters and tech trees) I'd be a much bigger fan.

so far the short campaigns have come up short xD

but yeah I don't very care about those 2 short campaigns, they are rather dull.

I'm happy that they are doing away with the mini-campaigns. In Warhammer, not so much in R2 or Atilla, they've been lack luster. Focusing mostly on one or two factions and while they're cool little mini-campaigns, they are more or less pretty meh. I think that adding 2 new lords, plus new mechanics, units as well as sub-factions is incredibly important especially for replay-ability and faction diversity.

Quick news: Wood Elves getting new units down the line....could be in relation to roaming armies? Some wood elves units for AI factions? Reddit comment from Rich_A_CA ( https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/co..._your/dkcqdaw/ ):

Just wanted to let you know the New Content Team has been working hard on a number of things recently and Wood Elves will be getting some new toys to play with in the not to distant future. More details on them and others to follow soon on our official channels.

    Okey some new news:

    1) In Steam DB is new item.... Krell. Now whether it is Old Friend or not, we donīt know. Just to be sure. There should be FLC content with Norsca race pack.....
    https://steamdb.info/app/364360/dlc/

    2) i was digging through some comments on reddit etc. and checked Rich_A_CA:
    https://www.reddit.com/user/Rich_A_CA

Everyone will get a little dusting of something new.

We know you all have your favourite race, so we wanted to give everyone some love in one way or another in the next big update.
The Cloves Ones are no exception
first comment was for wood elves, second for beastmen...so basically i read it as every race is getting some cookies down the line. Question is,what is this big update...maybe final update before W2 ? Or with Norsca?....

    Additional comment by Bart_CA:
    https://www.reddit.com/user/Bart_CA

Guys, just to repeat what we've being saying previously, this is a small thing we thought would be neat, think blood knight level kind of small addition thing not any hero or lord stuff.Reason we can't say much and it's taken a while is it's linked to an outside event. Bear with us but moderate those expectations.

I imagine there will be a big update for Warhammer 1 to go with the launch of Warhammer 2. Warhammer 2 is essentially a large expansion and will need to work alongside Warhammer 1, that means they will have to update that game to make sure it is compatible with any new mechanics in the second game. They will likely slip some other things in there at the same time such as new units etc etc.

Actually thatīs more problem with combined map. I can imagine that big update to be either before W2 or with launch of combined map. :-)

@CK23 Norsca definitely will have some FLC and was said it will bring life to Old World....but if it is the patch mentioned by Rich_A_CA as "big" one bringing new toys to old factions I honestly donīt know. :-) But I certainly wonīt mind. Evel with Norsca and Krell in steam DB there is still another unknown thing... :-)

Something like Make Love, Not War perhaps. Some kinda competition between CA and another game dev.

@LestaT Yeah exactly thatīs question. 30th July is international day of friendship, 18th August is CAīs anniversary - 30 years from foundation.... I can tie both to "Old Friend" especially second could be tied to some kind of event. Of course thatīs only my speculation...

So Krell is here! GW is having big sale and we are getting FLC Old Friend which is really Krell.
    Sale: http://store.steampowered.com/sale/skulls/

Heinrich Kemmler will be able to summon Krell in single player and multiplayer battles as a unique ability unavailable to other Vampire Count lords and heroes. Krell also comes with a unique skill chain (found in Kemmler’s skill tree) which will make him even more potent and enduring in battle as his master grows in strength during the grand campaign. This hulking melee specialist will cut a bloody swathe through the ranks of Kemmler’s enemies, but be warned; the ruinous powers of Chaos are not easily controlled, and Heinrich must focus his necrotic powers to keep him fighting.

Haven't played Warhammer in a while and not really interested in playing another VC campaign right now. Maybe I'll wait until Norsca is out before firing up another campaign again.

At this moment I'm trying to finish my old Octavian campaign in Rome II

p/s: just read on official forum that the skill tree update for Krell will be coming together with the Norsca patch anyway, so I guess it's woth the wait. Probably the best time to get Warhammer 2 at that time.

So we got some new news today :-)

As Welsh Dragon already said in another thread, we are getting RoR for beasts (well other factions probably too but i have screenshot only for beastmen ....):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Next is steam page which was updated and is teasing FLC stating "30th".....well CAīs 30th anniversary is August 18th actually (there should be FLC/big patch with Norsca but Norsca is hitting at August 10th....so it is probably that..)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And the last one. Empire roster no longer showing Boris. But question is, if itīs some demo build (like without completing beastmen campaign.. ) or possible hint for future changes?

EDIT: http://totalwarwarhammer.gamepedia.com/Boris_Todbringer he is playable in custom battles/MP once you unlock him..

If Boris ia playable, then nice. I last time planned to mod an AOR for Empire but the constant update made me decided not to do any modding. Dont have time to update mods every time there's a patxh comes out.

Anyway, I would not be surprise if there's a playable Middenheim as a bonus, even with almoat carbon copy of Empire units.

The amount of content in these games is insane.

Once the trilogy is complete the combined map and factions will probably make it the largest strategy game of all time right?

Sounds about right to me, not surprising when you consider the scale of the Warhammer world. What with a company that wants to sell, and a fan base that wants to buy.
I am happy for CA because if they make the money then we will get more games, interested to see what the next historical games will bring to the table.
