My Chaos campaign overhaul mod, Warlords of Chaos, is now feature-complete. I'm still tweaking balance and fixing bugs, but I'm very keen for people to give it a go and give me feedback on what I've done so far.

The mod includes:

NEW SKILLS: A complete revamp of lord, legendary lord and hero skill trees, introducing over 50 brand new skills themed around the four Chaos Gods.

Example abilities include:
  • Frothing Berserker (Khorne): Who needs armour when you have axes? Sacrifice resilience for increased weapon damage
  • Foetid Aura (Nurgle): Nurgle's rot enhances Chaos corruption damage in the local region, punishing enemies who pursue you into ruined regions or try to avoid battle. At its highest level, this skill enables Chaos attrition even in low-corruption regions when the lord is present
  • Aura of Change (Tzeentch): Tzeentch warps the air around your soldiers, disrupting enemy missile fire.
  • Unearthly Beauty (Slaanesh): Who needs muscles when you're this beautiful? Reduce your lord's max HP in exchange for a big leadership aura bonus
  • The End of All Things (Archaon): Archaon's terrifying reputation reduces the leadership and melee attack of enemy forces in the local region
  • Champion of Chaos Undivided (Unaligned): This lord suppresses discord by force of will, granting immunity to infighting to all forces in the local region.

But choose your abilities carefully - the Gods are jealous, and committing too much to one will prevent you from gaining skills from the others...

NEW HORDE DEVELOPMENT MECHANICS: Complete overhaul of horde development, reducing the importance of horde growth and allowing easier late-game horde building. Recruitment of troops is now more dependent on lord skills than buildings, meaning that you don't need to start from scratch if you happen to get unlucky and lose a horde.

NEW BUILDING TREE: All buildings have had their effects redone, and new buildings have been added: the new Dark Portal building allows minor replenishment anywhere in the world, and the Sacrificial Pit allows you to trade horde growth for income.

NEW SETTLEMENT OCCUPATION OPTIONS: Raze and Sack a settlement for favour, or Raze and Revel if your troops are in need of a quick boost of replenishment.

QUALITY OF LIFE CHANGES:
  • Easy diplomatic vassalisation of awakened tribes
  • Replenishment in high chaos corruption areas
  • Income from vassals
  • Stance AP cost changes
