Lowering the resolution increased my fps significantly while playing RS2.6. But vegetation was on medium settings.

I have a self build rig, AMD6300 6x 3.5 GHz (turbo boost to 4.2 if I want) 8gb RAM, 1Tb hdd, Sata III, 2gb GeForce nVidia gtx 750. My settings are; Terrain, Building, Effects & Vegetation on high, Unit detail & Grass on medium, Unit size is large and I use Widescreen. Campaign shadows, Glints/Reflections are left unchecked. I use Shadowplay for recording my Let's Play's and I have 30-60 fps (variable) and rarely have any lag. My OS is Win 7 Pro (64 bit). You can check out my channel to see for yourself if you like (RS III Athens campaign), the link is in my signature below. PS. I know RTW only uses 1 core, but I use my computer for other things.

I think I understand where you are coming from, In this folder: ....\data\_IMPORTANT_STUFF\Alternate_Strat_Trees <You will find a 'reduced lag' folder. Copy and paste into your RTW directory\data >this should help quite a lot.

Roma Surrectum's trees lag because they are unoptimized, I'm currently optimizing all RS vegetation models to 1/3 to 1/10 of the polycount without sacrificing too much detail. Also I made several new models and made new variations on existing models.

I already send some of my models to dvk.

These models reduce the prevalence of framerate drops (below 30) during to the point that they are almost non-existent when running the game on rather high (not highest) graphics on my main PC which has a 3.2Ghz processor as long as there aren't more then 8000-10000 men on the battlefield. at 8000 men I experience small framerate drops (down to 20 fps) in very dense forests. However the game keeps running very smooth till 10000 men at more open battlefields.

Also I have plans to render 1024x1024 sprites because rtw's automatically generated sprites are of very low quality. This would make far sprite distances obsolete.

Yes, some of the RS2 poly counts were a bit high!
Keen not to lose the beech and birch trees though.

@tone I'm currently working on the beech and birch trees. I had finished them but I accidentally overwrote them so I have to make them again :/
@Mamlaz @Zarathoustra Thanks, I also made some mushrooms, however I made them a little too big

Update: I did another test run of my trees in vanilla, this time with more success: (please not that everything except the trees is 100% vanilla)

I made some new trees out of existing models:

This looks very good, hopefully dvk will add them to RS. If they help the framerate that much with little quality loss, I see no reason not to .
