    Default Americas Sound Issues

Hello, if anyone took the time to read this and help me out.

I have recently tried to play a game of Medieval 2: Total War on the Americas campaign as the Tarascans, however, there is literally no sound whatsoever besides the intro and some ambient wind on the title screen. Everything else works fine for me, Teutonic, Britannia, Crusades, Vanilla and the three mods I have run perfectly fine with no sound issues. I have reinstalled, patched, checked to see if my sound was muted, nothing was working. It's odd because I remember playing this a few years ago as the Aztecs and it ran perfectly fine. Could someone help me if it is possible?

It's possible that the non Aztecs factions were not properly implemented sound wise - the Aztecs themselves are a faction from the Grand Campaign and therefore implemented. It would require some editing of the sound text files and then setting up the campaign as a proper mod folder for those changes to be read.

Edit: I just checked the descr_sounds_music_types file in the imperial campaign folder which governs the music type used and all the 'Mayan' factions are listed:

    Code:
    music_type mesoamerican

        regions Ahuacatlan_r Ocotlan_r Tuxpan_r Chichen_Itza_r Tula_r Uxmal_r Zacapu_r Canpech_r Tecoman_r
        regions Apatzignan_r Chetumal_r Xicalango_r Toluca_r Tlaxcala_r Tenochtitlan_r Potochan_r
        regions Cholua_r Cholula_r Tehuacan_r Tixta_r Huaxtepec_r Tikal_r Coatzacoalos_r Althun_Ha_r Yaxchilan_r Danipaguache_r

        regions Coatzalcoalcos_r Tehuantepec_r

factions aztecs mayans chichimeca tlaxcalans tarascans

I will check that out when I get the chance, but the problem is that I have no sound whatsoever besides the two I mentioned. No noises from clicking to start my campaign, no voices, nothing.

What is the size of the data\sounds\events.dat file? Should be 6.88MB (7055KB)

Indeed, that is the size that it is. Do you think there may be a coding fart somewhere down the line? I'm about the check that code you sent me because I now am at my computer.

The coding is also fine. I am at a loss for how to fix it.

The game is playable, but it is just really unimmersive and doesn't feel right without sounds.

While I can understand that clicking on a character may not produce a sound for a faction the basic noises should be there. Not to sound ridiculous, but have you checked the sound options in game?

Yes, I did. Nothing is muted. All are at max.

All I can hear is the wind in the background on the main menu and the intro cutscene has full audio. Once I get into the game, there is nothing there.

I know this is probably frowned upon, but bump? I really did want to play Americas.
