Default Doesn't work under steam or Playonlinux (wine)

    Hi,

I couldn't get the game working under various configurations. I'm trying to run the windows version of the game under Playonlinux (wine versions 1.8 to 2.3) but what I see is only some color changes in the screen with music. I'm able to click things but can't see anything than colors... I think being able to change the resolution to my laptops native resolution could help... How do I change the resolution under steam installation? There is no medieval2.preference.cfg file. Not even any *.cfg files.

The laptops I tried to run have following specs: ubuntu14 + i5 Cpu + HD4000 graphics, other one: ubuntu16 + some pentium dual core Cpu + gma graphics. The steam linux version shows only splash screen.

The last thing I'm going to try is install windows under VM

I think steam automatically detects the best configuration. Anyway your computer should not be a problem imo.

This only happens to you with this game? Steam/wine works fine with other games?

Yes it's happening only with this game, other Steam/wine and native linux Steam games are working fine

M2TW has a problem with some graphic configurations, but I am not sure which one. HazardHawk on the Steam forum is an expert on that.

Hahahahaha! Thanks for the bump Sir Gigantus. To be honest, I am still working on learning Linux; Windows I know inside and out...

alpalp1977, I literally stumbled through getting it to install for myself. I can find you directions, but cannot vouch for those same directions. I dont remember what I did because I tried more than a few myself and did not make good notes and I am still trying to work around having an AMD Graphics card on newest Ubuntu.

This one looks right, but is for an older version of Linux... https://sites.google.com/site/twonli...war/how-to-run Yes, it is for Rome 2, but the workings should be the same.

A post discussing these issues is here... https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=521377

If you are using wine... https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManag...sion&iId=22972

Another friend gave me this to install Rome... https://www.playonlinux.com/en/app-1...d_Edition.html

Until I get and take the time to go play with it some more, I am not going to be much more helpful with Rome on Linux.
