What do you think is better, The Simpsons(heavenly choir playing in background), or it's bastard ripoff clone Family Guy(cricket noises followed by the sound of a fat man with a bad case flatulence)?

I like both actually. I do agree that Family Guy has stolen a few strong attributes of The Simpsons, but they have their bits of originality in there. But, these days, I find myself getting bored of Simpsons before I get bored of Family Guy.

Few years ago Id have said Simpsons if both had been on during that time frame. Now though? Family Guy by miles, Simpsons is just running out of gas. What was one funny and kinda of 'edgey' now just seems dull and preachy (take the gay marriage one awhile back). Of course out of all the cartoon shows, American Dad must die and bring back Futurama!

If I'm in the mood to just watch something random and funny I will probably watch Family Guy, but the Simpsons is an overall better show in my opinion. It's like asking "Which is the better show, Seinfeld or America's Funniest Home Videos?"

Completely agree, I love Futurama, and I think if there had been a few more years it would have become my favorite over the Simpsons.

At least there is going to be a movie!

And Comedy Channel ordered 13 *new* episodes of the show (they bought syndication rights for it beginning in 2008 as well) so if it does well maybe we'll see a return!

Family guys is like the new hip kid in town totally stealing the old crew's thunder.

I pick Family Guy. Why? BECAUSE IT MAKES ME LAUGH! Whats up with peoples making such a fuss about Family Guy's low class humour or its ripoffyness, I could care less. Its funny thats all that matters.

Family Guy most definently. it's humor has grown up with the years, the Simpsons are lagging behind. But I wouldn't want to see wither show end. The Simpsons because its, well, the Simpsons. And Famiy Guy because I really like that show.

Family Guy is alright, but it is far to be able to compare to the Simpsons. The only cartoons able to compete with The Simpsons is Futurama (Matt Groening too) and South Park.

I don't know, in terms of overall plot, Simpsons by a long shot. But when I'm watching something I want to be funny and not make sense, Family Guy. You can just walk in half way through a Family Guy episode and still find it funny. It's different than Simpsons in that way.

South Park though, mannn, they have the best plots ever...I mean Cartman waiting for a Wii and freezing himself only to go into the future to find an atheist society arguing about what abbreviation was the best to call themselves...that is some funny stuff, oh and the otters, hahahaha, good times.

I love both but the golden age of the simpsons (1993-96) is tough to beat. Family guy has been consistantly funny so far... we'll see.

I can honestly say that The Simpsons has been going downhill for a number of years now. It used to be my favourite program to watch on television... every night at 7.30 we would all sit down for a bundle of laughs. It was original and brilliant, but now it's as though they feel the need to bring in a celebrity every episode in order to keep the audience. I want to laugh at the dysfunctional, average, small town American family but I can't.

In other words, I would rather watch Family Guy than The Simpsons. I'm not afraid to laugh at 'crude' humour.

Family Guy, hands down. Simpsons is way too old, in my opinion, not funny enough anymore. I'd take Peter Griffin over Homer Simpson anyday.

I think the South Park take on family guy was pretty true - but then the Simpsons has also been going down hill for quite a while. Overall the Simpsons is due much more respect that Family Guy ever will be though. Even though Family Guy is funny, it doesn't do much in the way of originality

Family Guy is nothing compared to the Simpsons. I prefer the Simpsons more because Family Guy comes up with jokes that just don't make any sense! If anyone has seen the South Park double about Family Guy, you might get were I am coming from!

6-7 years ago, I would've answered Simpsons without hesitation, after that, it's become less "edgy," more of a family sitcom than a cartoon for [young] adults. Family Guy picked up where the Simpsons left off, but being even edgier. But over the last year Family Guy is just repeating the same jokes/shticks. For me now, I watch South Park, which after a decade remains fresh.

Family guy got boring. The plot is usually non-existent and its all about "that's almost like that one time when peter [insert absurd, random event]".

It got dull. Homer still makes me laugh, Peter is annoying.
