    Default Performance Intel i54460

    Hello,
First of all great mod i love playing this game.
I am currently in the Hannibal game with Rome, owning everyone
Just did a battle again Syracuse. 9000 units VS 4500 in siege at their capital. I experienced a lot of Stutter
I turned all graphics to low. This made it kind of better but still not play.

Is this game too heavy for my setup? Or should i not play with many units/or huge Battles checked off?

    Rig
    8GB ram
    GTX 970
    Intel i5 4460

    Thanks

8gb ram is one of the reasons and city battle. I too have GTX 970 but also i7 and 16gb ram and game runs smooth on performance heavy mods, all graphics maxed out except vegetation alpha. Also some graphic options when set to low make your game perform worse as they start taking from CPU instead of GPU.

Will upgrading my ram not been bottlenecks by my cpu? So i guess using medium/high settings could we best?

I ran some tests and I play everything on Ultra except of shadows on medium and RAM is never used more than 6 gb even in big battles. As I understand it is not about RAM but more about your CPU. I have similar setup to yours.
I was about to upgrade my PC and then Ryzen came out : )

I guess it's related to my CPU then.
    Should look into upgrading it.

And in that vein, 8 cores of medium range strength will not outperform a quad-core with individually good cores. Most games today cannot fully utilize more than 4 CPUs and often not even more than 2.

My CPU is a bit weaker than yours (phenom II 955), and my GPU is a looooot weaker and older than yours (HD 5750 - 780 clock 1gb ram ).
I'm running the game in a bearable performance (dropping below 30 fps only in some siege battles).

Your CPU is cleary a way weaker than your GPU so I suggest you try to change some video settings and run tests with different settings, especially units size (which is the most CPU based if I'm not mistaken).
Don't forget you have to start a new campaign to "unit size" take effect, so try some custom/historical battles first to check if it helps.
Also there is some video settings guides for Rome 2 that may help you.

My CPU is a bit overclocked so I think maybe is outperforming your i5 a bit, I strongly suggest you make a least a mild overclock if you didnt. I doubt 16GB vs 8GB would make a difference, unless you already had a better CPU.
