    Default Durham's Manor

Bishop Walter Skirlaw, Lord Chancellor of England

Born 1350 in Swine, East Reading of Yorkshire. Walter Skirlaw was transferred to the Palatine of Durham in 1387.
    Traits: +2 Charisma, +2 Survival, +2 Battles
    Temperaments:
    Melancholic:
    - Pessimistic: This character is always looking at the negative side of things. They may be right in some cases - when you suspect every man you meet to be a bad guy, you're probably right at least one out of ten times - but it doesn't exactly make them endearing. +1 to survival rolls, -1 to AI reaction rolls
    .
    Phlegmatic:
    - Austere: This character disdains pomp and pageantry, instead preferring a plain & simple (the uncharitable might say 'rigidly spartan') lifestyle. +5% income, -1 to AI reaction rolls.

    - Empathic: This character is strongly attuned to the emotions of others and cares for them, making them great friends or kinsmen to have - but poor warriors and generals. +2 to AI reaction rolls, -1 to battle/joust/duel rolls.

One dull evening, a tall man strolled up to the manse and idly chapped the door. He was let in by a servant and instructed to wait - he was here to see the Bishop of Durham.

FotzAlan bowed. "Eminence, this affair with the Lords Appellant has shown great weakness in our government. Among both the King's pets and his opponents. I desire to petition to implement a new version of the Provisions of Oxford. Such a proposal will allow the peers a say in appointment of a government, without first stripping the King of power. I would like your most Holy Eminence to nack such a petition, in the name of preventing further bloodshed over governments in the years to come."

Durham considered the words "Ah, so I must assume that you have hear of my struggles to uphold precepts of basic due process with regards to criminal developments." Walter stroked his chin "very interesting. Sin within the peerage runs deep, I think." the Bishop commented. "I would see your proposal for such an amendment to the Magna Carta, as it were." Skirlaw replied "Before I approved of it."
