"Armies of Persia" sounds more ethnicity-based, not a single dynasty/faction in the first page is of Persian origin. They were (culturally) Persianized though.

When i think of elephant archers i think of low numbers which means they are quite useless.
How would it be when elephant archers got slightly higher missile damage and range due to their higher standpoint.
This would mean they can be used as sniping-type units and would give elephants an actual value as a skirmishing-unit.

They're not meant to be skirmishing units as much as massive shock units with added bonus of shooting a few arrows.

Only now I realised that there are still some units to be added and that this thread gets updated constantly... keeping my eye on this...

Only 3 units are missing at the moment and I will replace the Tier 1 Ghulam Lancers models of the Salghurids. That's all what is missing for the faction, with the possible addition of other units eventually.

That's interesting, Muqta means "cheapskate" in Georgian and Sarbaazan sounds strangely familiar to Zarbaazan meaning "Cannon". Also I can't wait to continue traditions of my ancestors and kill me some Qizilbash.

    Great roster

Muqta means the owner or ruler of an Iqta (which is some sort of a fief), and Sarbaazan is a Persian word meaning Soldiers (singular form is Sarbaaz)

I dont know much, or anything at all, about Iranian culture, technology, or equipment during the Middle Ages, but they look damn impressive. Awesome work!

Recently found this mod ,And my god this is absolutely fantastic and this preview of Iranic factions just made it the only mod I'm looking forward to try when it's finished. Thanks to all the modders working on it

Don't you mean the Armies of Persia?
as zsimmortal mentioned Persia was mostly a western name. as a history loving Iranian myself I don't remember ever to seen such name in native historical texts ,But seen Iran/Iran-Shahr instead.

Guys, I do not know how to appreciate your work. There is so much hardwork here and all I can say is that you are doing a great community service Your works will probably be reference points in the future as well.

I am so glad that someone has taken it upon themselves to flesh out the medieval eastern armies to such a detail. Thank you so much.

"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

I moved a few units around for balance and added a new unit for the Khorasan region (Qarakhanid tribesmen/Turko-Mongol tribesmen).

There's 3 late era units across the border that require one last piece of equipment before I can finish up. If the question relates to the accuracy of the units for unit card making, I can make a provisional vmd without the last piece (as the units in question will have a few different armours beyond the missing one) and upload an updated test pack on my drive. Everything other than those 3 units (Late Tirkash-band, Late Turkoman archers and Late Turkoman lancers) are final until any potential update after campaign release.

The Muttawwi'a, IMO, are a little bit too well-equipped. Most of what I've read describe them as unreliable, barely trained volunteers that could be raised quickly, for example, the volunteers force in the battle of Hattin, used mainly to light the fire lining the road of the crusaders, as well as the huge host of Muttawwi'a and Ghazi raised by Tughan Khan to counter an invasion from China. I could be very wrong tho

The reasons for the Muttawwi'ah to be well equipped are two fold. 1) The inspiration comes from various accounts, mostly of Samanid era soldiers, that were manning the border forts (ribats) along the deserts in Transoxiana, which were all volunteers (Muttawwi'ah) and from the urban militias that were organized within the quasi city-states of that region, which would justify heavily arming themselves in large numbers with Jihad, in a defensive way. 2) These cities were quite rich and Transoxiana (and other regions of Great Khorasan) was one of the major weapon and armour manufacturing regions of Eastern Muslim territories.

The overall plan was that the Khwarazmian faction was heavily handicapped (in the early era) in infantry options and forced to rely more on local infantry to have strong frontline units. Khorasan was the core region of the empire, so it would make sense that the heavy infantry option would come from that region. A volunteer is not necessarily rabble, as guild members would also volunteer for their homes.

I simply re-balanced the vassal factions, hanged some names around for better historical accuracy of the military units and added a further elite cavalry unit for the late era to make Khwarazm a bit more respectable in the cavalry department.
