Default Some (not so) grim news about XGM

DimeBagHo is back, thread closed - Zarax

It appears that DBH stopped answering to pm and I'm not sure if he ever will be back, so for now XGM is without its official leader and main designer/coder/artist (as you know he did most of the job by himself), meaning that there is no date for any official update.

On the positive side, as I'm the official host for both mod and source we have all we need to update the mod ourselves as long as we can find people with the needed skills.

If we want to keep this mod alive and growing we will need the following:

    - Modeler (might be already available as I've got an help offer recently) even not experienced as we just use CA models and apply changes on them

    - Artist/Texturer to help the modeler and for small faction reskin jobs (baktria needs that)

    - Coder for adding units/buildings and possibly faction swaps (I can do units and buildings but the rest is beyond my skills)

So, what we need now is serious help, if you know anybody in the position to give us some please contact them and spread the voice, the mod now is in YOUR hands!

That would be an option, is anyone willing to see if any mod would be interested in a sharing agreement?

We can offer what has been made for XGM plus hosting space on our server...

As someone who can barely work a mobile phone I am in awe of you modders who give us a free new game on the shell of the old.

If DBH has moved on to a new challenge then he has my best wishes, for he has left a great product behind him. Even without his further input it will still be played weekly by me.

But if anyone else wants to carry it on..........go for it.

Well, at least I want to fully carry DBH's legacy, there are a few things that we had in plan for the mod and I do intend to make them happen...

Grim news indeed. This is my first post so i would like to bid greetings to all
and at the same time thank DBH for this fantastic mod. I'm fairly new to the Total War Series as i have only been playing RTW for less than a year. I'm not actually much of a gamer and that's to say RTW is the first PC game i have ever played. What i am however is a history dork...Especially Ancient Times. I literally stumbled on to the game by mistake at a Best Buy and when i read the cover and description of the game i nearly passed out with excitement. I bought it on the spot and have been hooked ever since.

I use to think to myself...If only they had given the same attention to the Greeks that they have given to the Romans this would truly be a great game for me at least. That's when i made my second discovery....XGM!!!
RTW has never been the same since...Now i can line up my Spartans, Athenian Marines, and the Sacred Band...and punch those imperialist barbarian Romans right in the teeth...hehe...Again thanks to DBH, Zarax, and any others who have helped or contributed with XGM..I truly enjoy it...
I will now go offer a sacrifice to the God of War for the return of DBH.

    Hi
    Zarax
I was just thinking, maybe adding a post to the forms on the main page ?
for modders needed! I sure wish i would understand more about modding but even had a problem at one time downloading the old ML pack for romans !
Barebones modder would be outstanding to help us if we can get him.
1# has the best skys i have seen yet!
there is another modd and iam not sure who it is that has historical landmarks
    on the battlefields!
Barebones also has the best barbarians, and great skins for the GCS , Carth,
    and others factions.
Yey still my hart is with XGM!! With all the work makeing it a great modd.
Even though XGM is known as lite modding to others i dont think so.
Barebones is a full modd , Maybe one day we can have both in XGM
all it needs is just a few changes
    as i said before
    1. color in shields & designs ( no boats )
    2. not sure about the hemits they wore ( was this historical at this time?
    3. some newer spartans added infi without capes. alond with the others.
4.Different colored spartans like something like the elite ones are very good!
5.not all white on blue? Was this hist.?
6.Corth armored hopelites for that city
7.Athans very own armored hopelites. and elites
    8. the shields in all types! Greeks GCS a brass color with design! Differnt shields and color in each type of unit.
    same with carth.

    same with egypt.

lose the roman look of armor in other factions. use armor but something else.
( The Romans are great ML pack please dont touch ! )
    But only for the better!

Thanks for all the attention in this game! XGM should of been on the shelves
instead of RTW! For haveing Greeks and romans skins look better and better all of the time.

    thanks

Bad news indeed... i hope that DBH has taken a vacation and will return with renewed energy and zeal. in the meantime All hail basileos Zarax I
It is really nice that Sprit of Rob offered his works for us for he is a great skinner.
I was thinking that maybe we could ask ATG if he is willing to make some more of his wonderfull greek units for us.
Hopefully the best is yet to come

this saddens me greatly, not the fact that we may have to go without him, but the fact that he left (or perhaps he may return?) without knowing how successful and excellent his mod was. even if he believed that, all here would have toasted his skills.

i hereby raise a Corona in honor of a great modder!
