    Default Submods Suggestions (Official and Unofficial)

    Hey guys,

    Since I'm finally able to play this mod at it's full potential, which mods outside of DeI still work properly/are recommended? I've noticed a few graphics mods don't seem to work anymore due to not being updated etc or don't work well with Windows 10.

    I've had some issues getting blood mods to work, but managed to get the enhanced particles mod to work, which is bizarre since they need the same setup.

    Even just mods that are recommended simply because you like them will be appreciated.

    I'm running:

    GEM--Ad Finitum setting. Keep trying! Totally worth it. I have it running on Windows 10.

    GEM and Epic music mod (or another music mod) are usually great also.

    Emblem mods are compatible if they only change the ui files and don't contain any db tables, such as the factions table. Really, emblem mods should only replace the ui files but for some reason some of the emblem modders add the faction table which makes it incompatible.

    Same with building icon mods, etc. If they only change ui files its fine.

    @Dead*Man*Wilson - how did you get it to work? I got everything installed but nothing seemed to happen. It was as if it was setup but not showing up.

    Does anyone here have any ideas why the blood mod I'm using keeps disabling itself? It's setup to be a movie file with read only so that it works, then it works fine, but when I close the game and start it up again the read only part has been unchecked and the file has converted back to a mod file.

    Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm still trying to get used to Windows files instead of OSX files. All I had to do on that was do without some mods or use the user script.

    Haha, usually I'm the guy asking for instructions on this kind of thing.
    I'll give it my best shot. This is simply how it's worked for since since about 2015 after some effort:

    Step 1 Download both twcenter & steam version of GEM 1.09--make sure Steam version is active in mod manager.

    The instructions in the dedicated thread above is pretty good. I got it to work, after all. Simply activate the GEM installer. Note: As the instructions noted, I was sure to install GEM into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II
    *Not into the data folder*

    After it self-installs, you should find an app in 'Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II' that says GEMFX_Configurator.exe. It has a diamond as an icon next to it. Open this and you'll see the adjustable graphics settings for GEM. Once you've made your adjustments, BE SURE to click a green button in the bottom right corner that says 'Activate GEM'. Exit out, launch game, make sure Steam version of GEM is active and start. You'll know if GEM is working right away because 'GEM' in odd red writing will be visible at the top of the Rome II main loading screen.

    I don't believe GEM works with win10 if bypass UI is ticked so check that's not why GEM's not working for you.

    Well if we're talking suggestions I wouldn't mind seeing a submod that increases town battles.

    I think he means the likelihood that the AI will sally out when you attack minor settlements. There is one line in the mod that affects the percentage chance of the AI sallying out.

    I use Sally Out! by Smoothrich and it works fine. 100% sally for non-walled/non-coastal towns. I just much prefer open field battles for fun's sake.

    To balance out any advantage, I also sally out my own forces when attacked.

    Sorry for the delay, I tried it a couple of times last week but had some life stuff to do so got delayed replying.

    I got it all installed but I couldn't see any difference. Maybe I missed something... is there anything like bypass UI or anything you have turned on/off?

    DS,

    I see. I'd try the ad infinitum setting. I don't use the preset, just looked it up in the thread for it. Try to check off all the settings and make sure the mod is activated. You should be able to see a difference

    It seems that when I change the settings (ad infinitum ) the settings change, but even after pressing activate it still doesn't work. I'm not seeing the red letters you mentioned. It seems to be installed right as far as I can tell.

    (I did get the blood mod to work, so that's something )

    Yes I did mean Sally Out, I personally don't see enough town battles.

    Hi guys, been a long time since i came to the forums, anyway, i wanna start another campaign with this mod but the besiegin attrition mod i had for vanilla, can u guys recommend me another submod that works with the latest release of DEI, i really hate the besiege attrition feature.Thanks in advance.
