Default A few more questions (Sorry!)

I just wanted to know how hoplites/pikes are supposed to work? I read about them on the forum and from what I can tell when I'm attacked and they're stuck in I can give the attack order and they should start "pushing" into the enemy? I've done it but they only do it for a little bit then stop. Am I supposed to keep clicking? I saw someone do that with pikes in vanilla and honestly it was quite broken so I'm not sure if this is 'cheating' or if this mod has changed the balance. Also is there a way to give everyone the push order simultaneously? I ask because if I do it individually they tend to expose their sides and if the other unit is even slightly off center they swing to face their center to it which breaks their formation.

Also what are the mechanics behind forming a confederation/league? I really want to do it but I'm not sure if I should go fight them or help them? If they like me more are they more willing to confederate? Is it mutual wars against enemy factions? Or am I supposed to beat the crap out of them? I'm not entirely sure.

Another question I had was about pikes! So if an enemy unit is extremely armored can they just chew through my pikes? Do shields count as part of armor as well? (Those curved two handed thacian swords mean that they're more likely to be hit in the face because of lack of shield or am I wrong?)

    Does terrain affect arrows/cavalry still?

I can't answer about the pikes really, but about confederations - yes, they are more willing to confederate if they like you and you have a mutual war against an enemy. They're also more willing if you and/or that enemy are more powerful. And they're very willing if they're about to be destroyed. If they've lost their main army and their capital is vulnerable, that sort of thing. Then they're very likely to confederate. So yes, in some cases you can make confederations by almost destroying a faction, not unlike making them a client state.

Thank you friend! I was curious as I was letting them fight a war on their own and fighting it with them. Seems more likely that I fight /them/ until they confederate.

I will answer the 3rd and 4th question.

If the enemy is extremely armored, they would be too resilience to puny pike damage thus they will chew through your pike, albeit slowly. Shield is not counted as armor but contributes to melee defense and missile block, you are not wrong.

    Terrain still affect arrows/cavalry.
