This is a great movie...it got to see a ripped copy two months ago...its about when humankind stopped having babies and England is the only country left, but it is in chaos. The last 30 minutes is amazing. Should come out soon.

I Love this movie ,despite being set in the future it feels so "Real" (from our time) , i cant believe how unbelievably real they made it look you don't even know its set in the future until the directors wants you to know , if you want to see a realistic future then watch this movie its a classic movie if you ask me you'd be missing something if you didn't watch it.
Its got a great story and its a complete A Grade movie which is a rarity for this type of films.
The story goes like this ,Children of Men envisages a world one generation from now that has fallen into anarchy on the heels of an infertility defect in the population. The world's youngest citizen has just died at 18, and humankind is facing the likelihood of its own extinction.
Set against a backdrop of London torn apart by violence and warring nationalistic sects, Children of Men follows disillusioned bureaucrat Theo (Owen) as he becomes an unlikely champion of Earth's survival. When the planet's last remaining hope is threatened, this reluctant activist is forced to face his own demons and protect her from certain peril.
Directed and co-written by acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Y tu mamá también), Children of Men also stars Julianne Moore as the leader of an underground opposition group and Michael Caine as Jasper.
The film is produced by Marc Abraham & Eric Newman (Spy Game, Dawn of the Dead), Hilary Shor & Tony Smith (Eye of the Beholder, Beautopia) and Iain Smith (Alexander, Cold Mountain). It is adapted for the screen by Cuaron, Timothy J. Sexton (Live from Baghdad) and David Arata (Brokedown Palace).
The only reason why im mentioning this is because the movie hasnt gotten the credit it deserves, so watch it people.
Heres the Trailer,
and a little clip from the movie ,notice the realistic feel of the future

They call this war a cloud over the land. But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say ****, it's raining!![]()
Turn the news on then....Your "futurism" is present day, but not in your neighbourhood...yet...
What story?...we are dropped inside the life of main character...no history, no future...present day to the end...it cant go any more undeveloped then that...but hey its a short novel...![]()
And once again a ship called "Tommorow" saves the day?or it isnt?
![]()
Or you can just spend an hour watching sum news...and beside meteo, found out the results of your favorite sports team...
Ofcourse the camera is the brightest part of the whole movie..."Comin' live from Beyrut, our correspondent......Do we have visual"?![]()

I Dont See All Yong babies of the world dyeing by Miss Carrage for some mysterious reason, do you ?

Yup called Tomorrow , but in the movie you are left in doubt whether it really saves the day is up to you, the viewer and i wont go into the details because it might spoil it for some people , Tomorrow dosnt save the day coz it dosnt matter for me at least.
tell me would you rather watch news then go watch Star Wars or Some Other Sci-Fi movie ?

The science fiction genre is just a coat to project into the future the horrors and problems of our current days and many films attempt that ending up, in most cases, failing. This one however succeeds. Succeeds indeed but not only in this... The film blew away nearly everyone in the audience as one of the best action movies we have seen lately, with extremely exciting and brutal chases, gun fights, etc. Don't be put off by this though, the film is as good as it is not because of the action sequences but its amazingly emotional and touching story. The performances of the cast is impressive especially Clive Owen and the newcomer Claire Hope Ashitey who throughout the film develop the relationship between their characters and it's such a joy to see the development. I'm not very good at writing reviews so I think I'll stop know, but I had at least to transmit something to everyone who might be interested in watching this film. Don't pass this one, you won't regret it. In my view one of the few excellent films released this year.
Just kidding......
tough one...what news stations?:hmmm:

The genius behind the film is its camerawork in the action sequences - they use very long shots for complex sequences in which any one of a hundred things could have gone wrong to ruin the shot, and they keep the camera close to the leading characters heads looking outwards so that you get the feeling that you're right there in the middle of the crisis, the chaotic **** storm exploding around them.
Plus, I was also impressed by this observation - none of the 'good guys' are ever seen touching a weapon of any kind through the whole film. They are surviving, trying to live for the future, not participating in combat themselves even as it takes place all around them. There's a lot of panic, sweat-soaked running and frantic fear, but they don't take up arms. Only the ones who just don't 'get it' - get the fact that the human race has to be saved with children and not ideas - use guns...the government, the rebels, etc.
That one sequence in the last 20 minutes, in the internment camp for refugees when the army move in, is mind ****ingly impressive. The camera shots go on and on and on and the sequence gets more and more complex and dramatic.

I heard about this movie yesterday on T.V ... and I wanted to see it real bad. Can't wait till it comes out in theatres. It Actually has a good storyline too, a rarity for movies now-a-days.

I second that, they are kind of making an understatement concerning violence by not celebrating it but by having it happen in camerashots usually used for quite different scenes (e.g. a guy gets his skull crushed in by Owen, I think, but instead of focussing on that the camera just follows Owen so it looks as if it is a casual act in passing)
"Sebaceans once had a god called Djancaz-Bru. Six worlds prayed to her. They built her temples, conquered planets. And yet one day she rose up and destroyed all six worlds. And when the last warrior was dying, he said, 'We gave you everything, why did you destroy us?' And she looked down upon him and she whispered, 'Because I can.' "

Hasn't it been out in the US yet or something, then? It did its run in British cinemas in October.

Wow, this is the first I'm hearing about this movie. It looks great... is it in theatres or is it awaiting dvd release? Either way, I am going to have to see this movie, looks like it's one not to miss.
Must of swung through the theatres and I didn't notice, I'll catch it some time though.

Yep, go see this .. Its a great film, and the last twenty mins or so are incredibly well shot.
Enjoyed this one too, it surfaced in South Africa about November. I suspected I had read the book and that turned out to be true. PD James is the author, weird book for her, apparently she does romance etc. but its the only one of hers I read. I thought the movie was a very good adaptation of the book, it successfully conveyed that dreary gothic feel the book had, always raining, misty, dim, etc. (or is that just how England is anyway?). The book was quite depressing, really. It makes a great read though.
