So, I'll make an elaborate description of each individual faction that will be in this Top 3 best Hellenic/Greek factions. Share your opinion below and we'll see on the next thread which are the three winners. (and why).

Kam, was the syracuse overhauled already? I'm pondering what DLC to get - whether for galatians or syracusae. So I wonder about their units and stats.![]()
Yes, Syracuse was overhauled. Actually every playable faction has received an overhaul by now. Syracuse has some typical Greek units but due to it's position on the map, they also have some Italian units. Galatia is an interesting faction too.
As they are Celts living in Asia their roster is much different from those of other Celts. Due to their starting position they also have access to some nice AOR units of that region.
What is syracuse thorakitai or other top infantry armour? Is it 18? And what of galatians? Anything to field against rome head-on?
It's 16 armor for thorakitai and for their royal guard unit.
Yes the Galatians have at least two sword fielding melee units that are very good. One being their royal guard and the other are Neitos (Galatian legionnaires) with the last having some nice formations like hollow square, testudo and cav repel.
So they definitely have something to stand against Rome. But if I were you I wouldn't decide which DLC to get by the stats of just four units or so. You'll get alot more with those DLCs that unlock Syracuse and Galatia (HatG & CiG).
Maybe take into consideration which mini campaign you would like to play or if you are also interested in some of the other factions that come with those DLCs. But that of course is up to you![]()
Syracuse, Epirus, Pergamon are the three best rosters in my opinion. All three have good melee infantry, strong pikes and hoplites, and good shock and melee cav. Epirus and Syracuse have access to crossbows pretty early on in the campaign.
Massalia and the Selucids are honorable mentions.
Also, consider not just the roster/access to AOR, but also the starting position and the possible potential they could have as a faction. Wouldn't it be easier to start off with Macedon, let's play, which can basically expand anywhere with relative ease, rather than, let's say, Syracuse, which has to confront two empires ?
KAM didn't the Hellenic factions have already an overhaul ? xD

1. Macedon - get a speed buff to cav, elite pikes, and standard other units.
2. Baktria - Standard greek fun + elephants, cataphracts, persian archers without losing your greek strengths.
3. Bosphorus - Horsearchers + best infantry.
Bosporian Kingdom, Syracuse, Sparta
Bospor has best infantry? How? Isn't pergamese royal thorakitai or seleucid silver shield thorakitai better?
So, when is your Hellenic overhaul coming ? We can't wait![]()
Sparta. Has hoplites that look like Aris god of war that i like to watch them close in every battle. Also these hoplites are upgradable in every reform.Seleucid empire. The best infantry compined with catafracts elephants syrian archers and hipeis agematos, maybe the most complete roster. Epirus for the 40 first turns. Dei 1.2 is made in pyrric war era so get in the fight from the first turn
