I clicked on your signature. I found a new world. This looks interesting. I could give you a cookie, but that would be an insult for the work you have done on this. I am impressed.
Hi dear Frunk, wll done! this is a so good mod!
Could you teach me something about works of map how to edit? if there is an easy way to edit the map items for map grounds specially, if there is a tool for, that you know pls tell, thank u so much mate
Hi asadyan, thank you for the kind words!
The map_ground_types file is certainly the hardest and most time consuming aspect of mapping; no other way to say it. I know of no tool which exists that could make the process easier. The way I did my map_ground_types was to do small sections at a time. I believe I started in a small part of South America (Colombia) and did just a little bit. I then moved along Central America and stop, then I went and did part of North America, then I did some of Mexico, then I did Peru, etc., etc., and then I went back and reviewed what I did. I was able to make a lot of edits to Colombia, based on what I had learned later on through trial and error by editing other parts of the map.
Satellite imagery is the best and easiest thing to use. I've had Google Earth installed on my computer for years and it was really helpful, since you can view the world from different angles. I just tried to replicate what I saw. I also used a program called paint.NET to edit that file because I find it a bit more user-friendly than both Gimp and Photoshop (which are useful for other things).
I would like to make a video tutorial at some point down the track on the map_ground_types file. It's hard to find the time right now, though. The basic message from me is "trial and error". The only way to finish, is to start, unfortunately!
Very good map for a spanish conquest of the americas mod!!!
You could do about Cortés and Pizarro.
What time period did you choose for the mod?
Absolutely glorious. What an amazing work to see, so many years after M2TW came out. It's such a detailed map. This attention to historical & geographical accuracy just has me grinning from ear to ear. I can't wait to follow this in its renewed workings during 2018.

Hi LordKainES, thanks for the kind words!
The time period of the mod is c. 1519 - c. 1650.
Cortes and Pizarro will most certainly appear, as will a large number of other historical characters.
Those are very generous words, my friend, thank you!
It was a labour of love but worth the effort, IMO. I hope it will provide an immersive experience!
Hello how are you I lost a bit the tracking of this mod is still in progress or dead?
Still in progress. Most of us are preoccupied with real life at the moment, but this mod is definitely not dead.
Thank you very much for the quick response
great work, when mod will release ?
Not anytime soon, I'm afraid. We've still got a long way to go.
We're still working on it, but the native rosters in particular are taking a long time to put together. Personally, I've been very busy with school, so I haven't done anything in a while, but I'm still a part of the team.
We actually have a lot of work done on the European factions, especially the French and Germans.
Any plans for releasing the map for public use?
Hey afootcrawdad,
I spoke with the team (quite) a while ago when I personally took an extended break from modding about whether or not to release the map, and we agreed not to release it while their/our work on C&E was still ongoing.
It'd be a lie to say that anything has been done to this mod in recent history, but believe me I am still constantly thinking about it (and adding ideas and research to my spreadsheet almost daily) and believe I will soon be able to resume working on it actively, and attempt to muster the team back up.
So, to answer your question, no, there aren't immediate plans to release the map (or the mod). However, if I do fail in personally resuming work and/or the team effort resuming, then yes, I will look to release the map. Let's say, by the end of 2019 (i.e. anyone reading this in the future and is interested in the map, PM me to enquire if you don't otherwise hear from me here after then). That gives me some time to see what I/we can come up with.
Do you have anything in mind for it, out of curiosity? And/or are you interested in maybe contributing to C&E, or I may be able to assist in the mapping of a project of yours? Feel free to PM me, if you like.
What I am planning on doing soon is creating a series of narrated video tutorials on mapping to upload on YouTube and share here. Part of the reason is to test my own skills by creating another map, which will teach me things I can apply to my C&E map.

SO Damn Cool! 2020 has some ups, I'll say it here. Quarantine breeds time for creative works.
