Is nice! I like a Gustavus Adolphus very mach.
oh wait this is Charles XII.
I've always been wondering if this hobby costs too much?
A friend advises in his interest, not yours.
That's where Total War comes in.
We're all waiting for the threedee upgrade, or possibly augmented reality through a visor.
Eats, shoots, and leaves.
Yes, but that's half an army the total cost will be at least £700 and that's a small army. My Dano-saxon-russo army will be close to twice that price.
But some periods have quite a few hard plastic options. Like you can do almost the entire 2nd punic war in plastic (with only roman cav missing)
Much of the Greek wars and successor armies can be done about 50% in plastic
And those are much more affordable. 40-60 figures costing £20-30. On average plastic is half the price of metal.
Napoleonic wars also have a lot in plastic. Which is good as many play with 30-48 figure battalions.
But except for French and British armies. There is no cavalry in plastic only infantry.
Nice minis you got there.
There is enough selection in plastics for Napoleonic cavalry (French and British indeed) Perry brothers and warlord games among them (28 mm) other time periods are usually in metal (still).
The most used size for Napoleonic infantry battalions is usually 24 including the command group (flags, musician and officers/NCO's) for cavalry 12 minis on horse back, this depends ofc on the rule set you want to play by, 1 miniature constituting 20 men and 4 makes a company in my case, easier for me to detach skirmishers from a single base
They look absolutely fantastic

Did they not wear armor? Already abolished?
Except mabye a few officers. The cuirass was discontinued in Sweden. Other countries still used them. Like Denmark, Austria, Saxon.
France only had one regiment with it. While Nederlands and England/Scotland/Britain had stopped using it.
By mid 18th century. Most of France cavalry had started using it. So had the Russian cuirassiers (Russia had only dragoons and a few horse grenadiers during the great northern war)
Britain didn't use the cuirass until after the Napoleonic wars.
