Default low income on Arguin and Timbuktu?

I only got 1600ish gold from Timbuktu (Huge City + mining network) however according to the "settlement detail", the mine itself generates 1400 gold :hmmm: doesn't make sense.

in Arguin (minor city + port + grain exchange) , I only got 200 I thought that region is rich? it has gold, slave and another resource, and when I look at the trade detail it only trading common goods to Timbuktu :hmmm:

    are they bugged?

First of all you need to look at the corruption occurring in the province, this is dependent on the distance to your capital and will be large irrespective of the capital as these settlements are a long distance from anywhere else.

There is no problem with the trade routes, there are a number of provinces on the map that look like they should be trading but don't. I think it is due to the only route in or out is the long trek across the desert. You don't seem to be able to get to Arguin via the sea so the port wont do anything.

Both provinces have the same resources so they can't trade them.

The advantages of these provinces are if you can get some merchants down there. As you are along way from your capital they will produce large amounts of cash, in excess of 1000 florins each per turn, and you don't even have to own the province

I see, now how to fight corruption? I'm Hungary and my capital is obviously on the other side of the world

The town hall line of buildings reduces corruption, plus you need to build at least the first rank before training any merchants in the region.
