Default The Bedding of Alyssa Baratheon

Every wedding needs a bedding! The men had jeered as they lifted Tywin from his seat. He felt truly ludicrous. For a younger man it might be thrilling, but this was his second wife, and he would sooner walk to the bed chamber. At least none would disturb him, he had set Sandor Clegane to that task. Soon he was partially undressed and set down on his feet again where he turned to say some nice things to the men before shutting the door behind him and his new wife. He had only had a cup or two of wine and his wits were about him. He finished undressing himself finally and laid himself down in the bed. For a man of over 40 years he had a lean frame. "Alyssa" he said "I realize this marriage is probably not what you intended, or the sort of marriage you dreamed of as a girl." He poured two cups of wine by the bedside. Would she be a maiden? Tywin hardly cared. She had borne no children he knew of and likely did not carry one now. She was his in eyes of gods and men now.

Alyssa let out a sigh. "Certainly not," she admitted, "but a lady must fulfil her duty. I will never be warm to you, Lord Lannister, but I will do your bidding." Within reason. If I ever catch you doing something you shouldn't... she thought. Robert would kill his Master of Coin if he had to in order to protect his sister. "If I can make a request, however, I would drink a few glasses of wine before we do what must be done." She removed her dress, showing the lace covering her private parts.

Joanna had not been warm to him either, at first. childbearing soon cured her of that. Hopefully Alyssa would prove more sturdy than his previous wife had. Tywin handed her the glass. It would not make her any less fertile, after all.

Tywin paced outside the birthing chamber in King's Landing. Finally he head the cries of a babe mixed with those of its mother. Things seemed to be going well. Within an hour, the maester emerged. "A boy." he said, passing off the bundle to Tywin. He took it in his arms. The babe had blonde hair he saw, and the blue eyes of House Baratheon. "He shall be named Robert, in honor of the King."

    -----

Several days later, Tywin appeared at Lyanna's bedside. She had regained her strength, enough to be seen now. He sat and kissed her upon the cheek. "Our son is strong." he commented. "He will be a good lad, given time and training. As soon as practical, I intend to send you to the Rock. Jaime will be there to show you the Westerlands and our son will be raised there. I will not have him exposed to the dangers, diseases, excesses, and venom of the capital." Tywin had seen it before. King's Landing was no suitable place to raise children. Just look at the Targaryens.

ooc: the timeline for this is actually decent, it will have been about 9 months since the war ended by today.

Alyssa was very disappointed that Tywin had forgotten her name, but it did compensate for that time Robert had told the realm that Stannis was now the Lord Paramount of the Westerlands.

The young princess loved her firstborn, she truly did, but yet when she looked at him, the Lannister features were clear. This was Tywin's son. She'd half thought the child would have been Robert's. Alas, it seemed to matter not how passionate the love was. "You intend to send me to the Westerlands?" She inquired. "I could not bear to be without you, my dear, as well as my family. Besides, young Robert should grow up with his closest family near, and who is more important in raising a young boy than a wise man?" If you insist, I'll set Robert on you, she thought. She would not be taken prisoner in the Rock.

"It will not be forever, my sweet." Tywin replied. "Perhaps a year or two, until the child has grown strong. Then perhaps we can try for another child." Perhaps Alyssa would not make such a bad match for him at all, the child seemed healthy enough, and she appeared dutiful. He felt a bit of true affection for her, protective as well. "My duties will not keep me in the capital for the entire year. Mayhaps I will visit from time to time." A good pretense to ensure my bannermen are behaving themselves "You can tour the mines, sail to Fair Isle, sample the delicacies in Lannisport, the West is full of sights to see."

Alyssa wouldn't have it, being separated from her brother to sit in a snake's nest. Oh, how many times Robert had told her he didn't trust the Lannisters during their intimate sessions. She answered, "my dear, I will have to disagree with you. As your wife, I should remain at your side. As a princess of the realm, I should remain in the capital." And no, I do not care for the mines of the Rock, watching filthy peasants working like slaves.
