    Default Guide to the Praetorium

    Welcome to the Praetorium!

This forum provides a place for members to either appeal infractions or request rulings on other moderation actions. Cases are heard by all Moderation Staff, and all cases are private, which means other members will not be able to view your thread.

    Appealing an Infraction

To open an appeal against an infraction, simply create a thread requesting an appeal. Try to provide relevant information about the infraction such as the approximate time the infraction was given, the name of the moderator who issued the infraction, and the relevant thread or forum. After you have created the thread, a moderator will post the infraction and deliberations will begin. You may explain your position in the appeal thread.

After we have heard your side of the story, a thread will be created in a hidden forum and a vote will be initiated. Simple majority is needed to rule in any way. Once a decision has been reached, we shall inform you of the verdict and conclude the appeal.

    Requesting a Ruling

Not all moderation actions are subject to review in the Praetorium but, in general, if a moderator has given you an instruction via a pm, note, or thread warning, you may request a ruling on whether the moderator has correctly applied the Terms of Service. To request a ruling create a thread and provide any relevant information about the moderator action.

After we have heard your side of the story, a thread will be created in a hidden forum and a vote will be initiated. A simple majority is needed to rule in any way. Once a decision has been reached, we shall inform you of the ruling. Even if you think a moderator has not acted correctly you should comply with any instructions until your case has been concluded and a ruling issued.

    General guidelines

    1. You may not appeal post deletions, post edits, post moves, thread moves, or thread closures. If you have an issue with this sort of moderation action please PM a Moderation Overseer explaining your case.

    2. You may not appeal a pm or thread warning, but you may request a ruling on whether any instructions given are consistent with the Terms of Service.

    2. You may not appeal the same infraction twice, or ask for a ruling on the same issue twice.

    3. You may not appeal probation.

    4. An infraction may be appealed in the Tribunal after it has been appealed in the Praetorium unless it is entirely reversed in the Praetorium.

    5. The Terms of Service also apply in the Praetorium.

It is our goal to conclude all appeals within a week, but please bear in mind that staff is composed of volunteers, many of which have additional site duties, so verdicts may be delayed. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to PM a moderator.
