Hmm, I think for some reason my original post did not forward correctly.

Anyway, I was just wondering, with all these spiffy new AI mods out now, which would you all recommend using for a new player who just purchased the game?

There seem to be 3 main ones right now, being Shaba Wangy's, Italiano's, and Grand Viz's. They all sound intriguing, but of course the main problem we all face is that only 1 can be used.

That being said, which would you recommend and why? I realise all the mods have their supporters for various reasons so I hope no one begins to denigrate the others in support of their choice. Hopefully, some open discussion will be promoted demonstrating the mods' respective strengths/weaknesses and which produces the most fun experience.

First Welcome to TWC. Personally i use the M2TW Mod Manager - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...hlight=manager
so you can try all of them and then delete ones you dont like

    Shrug.

    They are all good.

One thing you have to realize is that Italiano's and Shaba's were much earlier work. Grand Viz's is more of an 2nd generation of AI mods, a complete rework.

I have used them all, and really enjoyed the difference they had made compared to the absolutely horrible vanilla AI.

At the current versions (Ultimate 0.21, Italiano 0.96, Shaba 1.4) the Ultimate AI is very, very clear winner. There isn't really competition.

Like I said, Italiano's and Shaba's were earlier work and I used to play with them having good time. However, they are reworked Vanilla AI and thus have limits in what they can achieve. Ultimate AI is done from ground up and it's clearly superior to even heavily modded vanilla.

I appreciate the efforts all three have made and becouse of their hard work I have had much better game experiences than the vanilla offers. I hope either competition or co-operation will take the AI mods even further, even though the latest results are already amazing.

What I really don't get, why on earth CA made so shabby work with the Vanilla AI, despite the weak AI being one of the biggest complaints about the series.
