What exactly do you need done in terms of modelling? Are there specific assets that you need which aren't already in the game?
A beta release would be awesome if buildings trade resource etc are ready. You can always revisit units that require new models.
2021 i stumbled at this thread. It looks amazing. Love playing with cyrene. Wonder if this submod can be found somewhere?
its not completed i think. U can probably try my unit roster till then
I see i tried your mod. Like it so far. Still hope this submod will be completed. Seems to make this faction really interresting. Maybe the DEI mod makers could add this to their mod.
I really like playing Cyrene. Unique position. Much more interesting than playing the Kholkis. Really need this submod in my life. Is this still being developed?
Is it possible that this can be added to the main mod of DEI?
The work on the project has started again

Indeed it has, with Swaraj on board, we are making significant progress and hope to finally finish the submod.
As a taste of things to come, we'd like to show you the revised Unit Roster. Tell us what you think!
As always, we're looking for help - if you're interested, please send me a PM or DM over Discord.
This makes me so happy!!!! Any ETA ?
Time for another preview!
Preview I - Elephants
We're starting a new series of previews, expect a new one every two weeks, on Saturdays. First one we wanted to share is centered about the lovely elephants! Given the importance of these animals and the lengths various rulers went to acquire them we thought that they deserve a more special place. Indian elephants, while larger, were hard to acquire and expensive. Thus the Successors had to look elsewhere - Ptolemy II started an ambitious hunting program, establishing Ptolemais Theron (Ptolemais of the Hunts), a staging ground where the elephants were brought to be trained and then transported on ships made specifically for that purpose. Indian mahout trainer were also brought in, along with interpreters. This North African variant, now sadly extinct, was smaller and frequently outfought by their Indian cousins. And yet they were widely used still, not only by the Ptolemies, but also by the Carthaginians (who, according to Appian, acquired them on the shores of Morocco) and in later period, Numidian kings (mostly notably Juba I).
All this evidence led us to introduce elephants as a rare resource that can be found in select few locations, accentuating their high value.
1. New Resource
We're introducing an entirely new trade resource - war elephants:
You'll be able to find these gentle giants in three locations:
1) Oraea (Maka Province)
2) Ptolemais Theron (Ityopya Province)
3) Siga (Mauretania Province)
You'll be able to construct a new type of settlement as well:
2. New Buildings
Those who are lucky enough to get access to the elephants will be able to construct new building chains:
1) Elephant Capture Pit
Which then can be expanded intro three different directions:
Trader
2) Elephant Trader
3) Elephant Market
4) Elephant Trading Hub
Breeder
2) Elephant Corrals
3) Elephant Breeder
4) Elephant Stable Complex
Trainer
2) Elephant Courses
3) Elephant Trainer
4) Master Mahout Trainers

As always, we're eager to hear your feedback.
We'll see you all in two weeks, when we'll reveal more about the temples you'll be able to construct in Cyrene.

Love the new war elephant resource. Also the artwork matches really well. Very happy to see the next update. 😀
Time for another preview!
Preview II - Religion
Soon after arriving on the North African shores, the Greek settlers took Libyan wives and were in turn influenced by their culture. They soon identified the Egyptian god Amun-Re' (a fusion of the sun-god Re' with the ram-god Amun) as Zeus and began worship of Zeus Ammon. But that influence doesn't end there. Herodotus also observed that the Libyans worshipped Isis and that the cities of Cyrenaica also adopted the cult of Serapis. Libyans themselves observed the cult of dead as well - and interestingly enough, they buried their dead in a sitting posture. Of course the Greeks have also brought their own gods with them, Apollo Karneios, a horned ram-god, chief among them. According to Flavius Josephus, hellenized Jews settled in Cyrene during the reign of Ptolemy Soter (305 – 283/2 BC), manning a sizable garrison. They, in turn, would have worshipped Jahwe.
In order to better represent the multiculturalism of ancient Cyrene, we have prepared a new culture and a brand new temple chain, with several unique buildings, all based on the research we've done, including archeological findings and coinage.
1. New culture
Aside from already existing Greek and Jewish cultures, we will be also be introducing a completely new one, Libyan:
2. New temple chain

We'll see you all in two weeks, when we'll reveal more about a unique recruitment system we have prepared, which ties neatly into the new religious buildings.

Looks great so far. I can't wait for a new greek playable faction. It has a really interesting starting position.
Preview III - Cultural Recruitment System
We've previously talked about multiculturalism of ancient Cyrene, which is represent by our temple building chain. But that's not where it ends - our unique recruitment system was also built with it in mind. While Cyrene was originally a Greek colony built in close proximity to the various Libyan tribes, it became a Ptolemaic satrapy with a sizable Jewish population. All of the successors relied on Greeks and Macedonians in their armies, but their supply was not unlimited - thus they had to find other ways to bolster their armies. It will not be different for you, should you decide to lead your fragile kingdom into victory - successfully integrating Macedonian/Greeks Cleruchs, Jewish troops and Libyan tribesmen will be crucial for your success.
Thus we have decided to construct a recruitment sytem that is meant to represent that need.
1. Culture groups
We have divided our roster (which you can view here, use the tabs at the bottom to navigate) into four basic subcategories:
1) Core
2) Libyan
3) Cleruchs
4) Jews
While you can still make up a decent army just from your Core units (who are meant to represent the Greek population), you will have to rely on Cleruchs, Libyans and Jews if you wish to field elites and/or specialist troops. That's where our DLC system comes in.
2. DLC system
Barracks will only let you recruit Core units - if you wish to recruit Cleruchs, Jews or Libyans, you will also be required to construct an appropriate DLC building (downloadable content buildings, as we call them, because they represent the idea behind them well - they are basically expansions to already exisiting buildings). This is meant to simulate giving away land for military settlers, as was common at the time.
1) Military Settlement
Is the first step down the chain, which offers a few basic troop choices from all the cultural sub-categories. It can be then further expanded into three different directions. However, you will only be able to build one DLC building in a province, thus locking you out of access to units from other groups. The buildings will also provide unique advantages and disadvantages, further differentiating each of them. This is how they are currently represented:
Libyan
2) Libyan Tents
3) Libyan Encampment
Cleruch
2) Cleruch Farms
3) Cleruch Estates
Jewish
2) Jewish Garrison
3) Jewish Politeuma

We'll see you in two weeks, when we'll reveal more about lifeblood of Cyrene - silphium.

Given the preeminence of Jewish culture and buildings, I hope you include at least one Mel Brooks line as a tooltip somewhere as a nifty Easter egg. That aside, the recruitment and religious system looks like its going to be quite the balancing act. Especially since you can only get one recruitment chain per province and not per region.
