How to edit unit stats for custom battles

is there a way for me to edit the unit stats? I am trying to balance out some units maybe even add shield wall for some ayyubid spearmen etc. i tried changing some stats but my game keeps crashing

The tool you will need is the pack file manager, aka PFM, which you can find here : https://sourceforge.net/projects/packfilemanager/

An important thing to keep in mind is that if you edit the mod in any way you will not be able to play multiplayer battles with your friends with this mod, unless they make the !!! exact !!! same changes as you .
