I'm guessing most peeps here ain't into this. However I'm excited as a kid in a candy store about this movie. In the times I took up boxing and weight training, Stallone/Rocky was my #1 inspiration , and I will safely say he has been so for many many others. I love the story, I've read the previews and seen the trailers. I'm pumped here, has anyone seen it, now please be fair, if you have seen it (In the US, it was released in the 20th of Dec), don't give away spoilers. I don't get it till the 4th, now I think we know what will happen, but I'd rather leave it for speculation, me, like a lot of others, have been awaiting this remedy for the Rocky V flop for a loooooonnng time .. Please cover/hide any spoilers for us non US fans.

Suprisingly, It is getting good reviews.

I Think there is a subtle yet under lyingly powerful message in this movie. Both critics and the majority of the viewers (bar us die hards) all think that Rocky is a down and out franchise and that Stallone is a washed-up, has-been actor that has nothing left. I feel, from what I hear, that this conclusion to the Rocky epic is a knock-out left hook to all whom have doubt, on both counts (Rocky the character and Stallone himself)...

I'm definetly going to see it over christmas break. I love the movies (except the last one....) and I would love to see how this fairs. Actually, I like the PREVIEW for this one better than the whole 5th movie

I liked the earlier Rocky movies, but just like Pyrrhus, the fifth was not my cup of tea, so to speak. I will wait until the movie is released on DVD to see it.

In regards to past movies, I must say III and IV had the best fight scenes (Must say, the the street fight in V is unreal tho). However, I think the main plot-line for IV is what spoiled it, the whole 'commies are our enemy' worked for Rambo III, but it didn't and never will have its place in a Rocky movie. Drago was a great, if a slightly robotic character, Dolph Ludgren really portrayed the David vs Goliath role brilliantly, his size and stature was amazing, even Stallone himself was physically massive in #IV, but just that commie, cold war, 'evil robotic Russians' & 'us against them' mentality/theme really spoiled the movie overall.

V was just typically early nineties, the installment had great undertones, bringing back the original director was a great move, but the sheer cheesiness of the situation made the film the flop that it was and made it less than enjoyable as a whole, a sub par attempt at wrapping up the Rocky epic, hence VI was/is required...

Have you seen any recent pictures of Sylvester Stallone? He may be 60, but he is in damn fine shape for his age, He'd put many blokes half his age to shame. Age has taken its toll, but old Sly isn't gonna let age go unchecked, he is an inspiration to many my friend (including me).

Why's he boxing antonio tarver in the movie? Jesus, he went from apollo creed to mr. t to ivan drago to........antonio tarver?! Tarver isnt even a heavyweight.

I dont get why they put tarver into this movie as his main opponent, hes hardly the best boxer out there, hes not the biggest, hes not the meanest looking....

edit: the role should have gone to Mike Tyson, everyone knows he needs the work. Or...Valuev, he looks the part. Or James Toney, hes got the flamboyant thing down better than apollo creed did.

I believe that's why they call it *acting*.

yeah, because antonio tarver is known for his acting....

Why didnt they just put him into the ring with ebo elder or oscar de la hoya if they wanted a thin, little guy for rocky to woop on. I dont get why people make fun of stallones voice either, its unique sure but southpark for instances shows stallone as someone unintelligable...which is a huge exaggeration, i can understand him perfectly. I love his ay-yo's.

And that changes what he did from acting how exactly?

I think Stallone when for a quasi 'hack' character, much like Union Cane from Rocky V, Antonio isn't a heavyweight obviously, but you can't have a 60 yo has-been (albeit, one who hasn't 'peaked' yet. lol, you gotta see the trailer..) fighting a mountain of muscle like Mike Tyson, Evander Holleyfield or Lennox Lewis, though from what I understand, Tyson does make a cameo appearance in the movie, as himself. I still don't get it though, aside from Drago, who was Russian, all Rocky's major opponents in the movies have been black Negro American....

rofl, i remember in the first movie rockys trainer mickey, when he discovers rocky, he goes "You fight like an ape!". So true, he fights like an ape.

Rocky has never been the picture of perfect boxing talent, infact he takes a beating in every friggin movie. People like him because he has heart, but come on....its kind of ridiculous. ALL he has is heart, and he takes a whuppin in every movie. In real life hed had brain damage by now...what kind of lesson is that to teach?

He had brain damage in Rocky V... lol..

However, your short changing him, he may have a lot of heart, but it isn't all heart. Without says, heart aside, that is a massive abundance of determination and indefatigable will power, plus, Rocky's got one hell of a chiseled chin, massive punching power and awesome endurance to boot. If your worried at technique, look at how bushed up his skills where in the Clubber Lang rematch in #III. Dodging, weaving, slipping combined with a massive armoury of quick punches and combos..

My parents told me that when they saw the first movie in theaters, they were asked to leave because they laughed so hard at his voice. Personally, I think they are just milking it now.

I haven't seen it yet personally, but the movie seems to be getting good reviews both from movie goers and from critics.

The thing that I find amazing is how Stallone is still in such a good shape at 60. Though from what I read, the making of the movie and all that working out put a lot of stress on his body.
