Default Council of the Westerlands - Lannisport

With the short lived rebellion of Kevan Lannister now effectively ended, The now confirmed Lord Tywin Lannister calls a meeting of the notable houses of the Westerlands in order to tie up loose ends and announce the policy of the Rock as the Realm heads towards a disastrous war.

Tywin and Tygett Lannister were present as well as Ser Gregor Clegane. After some time, Tywin stood toaddress the assembled lords. "My lords, Kevan has been defeated and so have any pretenses he had to my position as rightful Lord of Casterly Rock. Many Houses daclared openly for Kevan but did not field troops at his behest. I offer blanket clemency to all such persons, provided they do homage to me as their rightful lord."

Gerold and Tybolt were present with the widows of those deceased. Lefford sat next to Gerold while Shiera was closest to Tybolt. Among them were the commanders and officials of Lannisport who joined the two sons of Jason to submit to Tywin. The heads of Stafford and Kevan were now attributed to Tybolt with Gerold showing his loyalty by eliminating any co-conspirators within the city. Tybolt and Gerold would be the ones to rise to represent Lannisport. Tybolt speaks.

"My brother and I submit to you, Lord Tywin. Let our deeds show our loyalty to your household and let any doubts of our allegiance be dispelled by such deeds."

There is some small commotion heard outside and eventually a man at arms came in and sought Gerold.

"Begging pardon m'lord," he said, "There's a ruffian outside claiming t'be one Donnel Lefford. Being' as he's here so early he can't possibly have come from outside the city, m'lord. He rhymed off the names of your whole family, else we'd have locked him up."

Gerold nods quietly to the guard before departing with Lady Lefford. Surety she could confirm the identity of the man who claimed to be Ser Donnel. Once outside, Gerold motions his guards to let the disguised man in. Instantly Elyana notices Donnel.

"Donnel?! What are you doing here?"

Gerold was curious about that too. So he walks up with Lady Lefford who rushes over to hug Donnel as the recent events had frightened her like Shiera and Elia. Gerold looks at Donnel.

"I feel I should ask the same question, Ser Donnel, since you are disguised."

Though Donnel had since shaved and was no longer wearing the kettle helm and mail coif, he remained attired as a common sellsword.

"I entered the city days ago to learn of my aunt's whereabouts." he said, "I saw your... actions, at the City Watch compound and saw my aunt moved into the keep. My grandfather was unwilling to make any moves that might jeopardise the safety of his daughter. Went into hiding afterwards as Kevan was emptying the city of soldiers to fight that doomed battle. "

Donnel didn't know if his aunt was aware of exactly how Stafford died, but Gerold would know of the event he referred to.

Elyana sighs deeply, knowing all too well what had happened. When Gerold came to see her, she knew what had been done, even before he admitted the deed of Tybolt.

"I am still accepting his loss, Donnel... but as much as he envied Damon, I never thought he would go as far as to kill both father and son. Just to gain Lannisport."

Gerold sighs deeply, knowing that they still committed kinslaying but it was still justified given the murder of Damon and Damion. He spoke to Donnel.

"I hope your family can forgive ours for killing Elyana's husband. If he had not killed our brother and nephew, we would not have been forced to kill him."

Elyana sniffles a little. She had loved Stafford for the husband and father he had been before. But the recent events had corrupted to become the man that wasn't the one she used to love.

"Tybolt, in recognition for your decisive ending of Kevan's plots through your charge, I remit Lannisport's taxes to Casterly Rock for a period of five years. A tax rate of 5% shall be set otherwise, to provide for a standing body of troops to provide for the mutual defense." It was a small tax, more an exercise of authority than anything else. It would serve as a reminder to whom the lords of the Westerlands owed their fealty.

"There remains the issue of sorting out what to do with the surviving children of Gerion and Kevan. I shall not punish children for the crimes of their fathers. Lancel, Martyn, Willem, and Janei will be my adopted children." Tywin answered. "Joy Hill, Gerion's bastard, shall likewise be raised in my household and treated as any bastard would be treated in court."

"This brings us to our next point of business: the open rebellion against King Aerys. What are my lords opinions of this affair?" Tywin left things open ended. He wanted their honest opinions, not one tainted by his own opinions. The Westerlands had just undergone a period of upheaval and divisiveness. This issue may prove even more divisive.

Lord Roland Crakehall stood. "My Lord Tywin, I will first apologize for my lateness to respond to the rebellion. I will openly admit that my daughter's marriage to Damon Lannister left me in a vulnerable position."

He coughed and changed the topic. "This was is the perfect opportunity. Let us use it to gain significant territories and to expand the power of the Westerlands."

Tywin listened to Crakehall's comments. Vague noises regarding conquest were of little interest to him. His expression remained impassive, almost vacant.

"Our concern is with Elyana and her children," said Donnel, "What becomes of them now that Stafford is dead? My grandfather had intended to shelter them if they were able to be extracted to Goldentooth."

[OOC: Jumping forward a little bit but to help Ponti's RP along.]

Harmund arrived a few days later and joined the council as one of many Westerlands Lords.

"Aerys is our King," he said, "And he holds your son besides, my Lord. It would seem our duty to march against the rebels."

Gerold Lannister looks over at Elyana, knowing the time they had spent together while Stafford was off at a brothel or too busy scheming to care for his wife and children.

If... if your grandfather, Lord Lefford, would allow me, I would like to take Elyana as my wife and take her children by Stafford into my household. They are still of Jason Lannister's blood and are my kin. I will care for them as a father should and ensure they prepared for the world to come. Our family has become smaller, Ser Donnel, and as Jason's offspring and descendants, my brother and I will stick together.

At a later time, Tybolt would approach Lord Crakehall with the Lady Shiera. She was more than happy to see her grandfather in Lannisport, still distraught over what had happened to her husband and father-in-law.

My Lord Crakehall, it is fortunate to say that I ensured your granddaughter and great-grandchildren were made safe when Shiera came to us. It is unfortunate though that her husband and father-in-law are dead... but they have been avenged, my lord. Stafford was executed to avenge them and ensure their spirits are at peace in the afterlife.

Tybolt, knowing he needed to keep himself secure, would rise up as well and speak to Tywin boldly as others began to voice their opinions.

My Lord Tywin, we must first secure the home then move to make the Westerlands prominence known. I voice that, when this land knows stability once more under your reign, we must move to support King Aerys. He is still our lawful King and the Lannisters have ever been loyal to the Targaryens since the days of Maegor the Cruel when our forefathers sheltered Prince Aegon, son of Aenys I, and supported Jaehaerys I when he claimed the Iron Throne.

In addition, Tybolt desired to speak with Tywin privately. Ambition was now growing within his chest. As such, a guard quietly brought a message to Tygett for Tywin, stating that Tybolt wished to speak with Lord Tywin later.

Tywin replied tersely "My son is not held by the King, Harmund. My son is a sworn Knight of the Kingsguard. It is neither my duty as a father or as Lord of the Rock to march against the true King of the Seven Kingdoms in order to ensure my son is released form his vows." Tywin did note, however, Leffords clear concern for the welfare of his family.

"You speak wisely, Tybolt." Tywin replied. "Aerys is our true and legal King. Can his burning of a few Starks justify our treason? What are these Starks to me? The Westerlands must be made secure, I agree. Would any now doubt that to question my right and legal rule is to invite death? I had hoped the burned out ruins of Tarbeck Hall and the desolate wastes of Castamere would be proof enough of that. My brothers were traitors, but they were Lannisters. I will not violate their bodies, or dishonor them. They shall be buried honorably, not left as trophies of the wages of treason as the Reynes and Tarbecks were. It should also be noted that the last of the Reynes were killed in the latest battle. My brother Gerion's squire fell, and so ends that family. Belatedly, but fittingly." He said with a twisted grin.

"I am grateful, Ser Tybolt, that you managed to protect my granddaughter. Indeed, it was the uncertainty of her where abouts that led me to be so hesitant to declare for Lord Tywin."

"That and Kevan would have given me more, but now he's dead and i have nothing."

"I take it young Lucion will now inherit Lannisport, as is his right as the First Born Son of the previous heir?"

I fear he may not be up to the task... besides, this place is filled with the blood of our brothers now... I fear it will only haunt Lucion.

Tybolt sighs, knowing Lucion and Cerenna will no longer know their father. He glances in the direction of Shiera.

I was hoping to brooch a subject with you, Lord Crakehall. I would like to marry your granddaughter and raise your great-grandchildren under my guidance as their step-father, just as I did as their uncle.

"I would not speak for my grandfather on this matter," said Donnel with a shrug,"Though his chief concern will be their wellbeing. If she would have a better life in Goldentooth, that will doubtless be his demand."

    * * *

"Forgive my poor choice of words, my Lord," said Harmund, though all in the room knew the truth of Jaime's "appointment", "I did not intend to suggest we march with the aim of releasing him from his vows, merely that King Aerys determines his safety, and he has proven with House Stark that he is willing to administer justice based on family name alone."

When Stafford was drinking or at a brothel, I tended to Elyana and ensured my nephew and nieces were not alone. There were many nights she was afraid that Stafford would returned harmed or dead... a number of those nights I went out and dragged him back to her bed, just to ensure she wouldn't be frightened all night. Lady Lefford knows of my kindness and my desire for my nephew and nieces well-being. If I can, Ser Donnel, I would like to speak with Lord Lefford at the earliest convenience about this.

'How many of her children are yours, Gerold?' thought Donnel, 'You certainly seem to have been close...'

    @Harmund Lefford
At some point after the Council, Ser Gerold Lannister comes up to see the Lord Lefford. Quietly he glances down a hallway within the keep before looking at the old Harmund.

Elyana and your great-great grandchildren are well, Lord Lefford. I did what I could when Stafford went mad with power to secure their safety... he had already willing killed a brother and nephew after all.
