    Icon5 [Help/Questions] Adding Empire Wizards to the Bretonnian Unit Roster

    Hi folks. I’m trying to update Bretonnia’s roster to include the already existing Light, Jade, and Amber Wizards from the Empire and have stumbled somewhere along the line. I didn’t want to change anything about them – just provide Bretonnia the ability to recruit those 3 agents during the campaign and custom battles.

    I realize that Bretonnia is coming as Free-LC next month, but I wanted to use their sparse roster as a learning exercise in modding (i.e. for my personal use). So, after some tinkering:


    __ 1. I can get all 3 wizards into Custom Battles – no problem with portraits, meshes, animations, etc.
    ______ a. Table updated:
    __________ i. units_custom_battle_permissions_tables


    __ 2. I can get all 3 wizards attached to a Bretonnian building (the Grail Shrine) for campaign recruiting.
    ______ a. Tables updated:
    __________i. (Either) building_units_allowed_tables
    __________ ii. (Or) building_effects_junction_tables


    However, I’m having trouble with a couple of things:

    __ 1. No matter what I do, the agent information shows up incorrectly in the building browser:
    ______ a. If I define the changes through building_units_allowed_tables, no text shows up correctly.
    ______ b. If I define the changes through building_effects_junction_tables, I can then replicate most of their text correctly with exceptions being:
    __________ i. Agent ability bullet points - does this perhaps have something to do with the wizards being redefined as "Dignitary" agents for Bretonnia (I'll touch on this in a sec)?

    Vs.

    __________ ii. The second bullet point below about increasing the wizard's "Hero Capacity" - it’s definitely attached to the building via the building_effects_junction_tables - why would it merge with the Damsel's line?


    __ 2. Now, if I keep the Empire Wizards in the “Wizard” agent category alongside the Damsel:
    ______ a. I can see and successfully recruit all 4 agent types (Light, Amber, Jade, and Damsel).
    ______ b. However, I lose the Empire wizards’ portraits, unit cards, and character models - all show up as Grombrindal the White Dwarf for whatever reason?


    __ 3. If I split the wizards off into a new agent category (“Dignitary” for example), I can’t get the recruitment pool to unlock even with what I think are the correct updates to:
    ______ a. Tables:
    __________ i. agent_culture_details_tables
    __________ ii. faction_agent_permitted_subtypes_tables
    __________ iii. effects_tables
    __________ iv. effect_bonus_value_agent_subtype_junctions_tables
    __________ v. building_effects_junction_tables
    ______ b. I thought the categories were just placeholders, but it seems like there is potential conflict or overlap in the agent related tables I can’t pin down?


    I had contemplated cloning the Damsel a few times and just changing the accessible lore on each. Given all of the mess I’ve made so far, I may end up going that route if there are issues with defining new agent categories for factions or recognizing UI and meshes for different models within the same category.

    Note: I had intended to use this in conjunction with Lokerian's Modular Factions - Unlocker and maybe Lokerian's Bretonnia Overhaul Pack to access Bretonnia in the campaign until February. I don’t think think there are any conflicts here, but figured I would point them out.

    I’d really appreciate someone taking a look at what I have so far, and hopefully pointing me in the right direction. Thanks!

    I'm trying to do something similar adding the vamp wizard agent to the empire and I'm getting the same Grombrindal model glitch - I wish I could offer some useful advice other than that the issue doesn't seem to be unique to the Bretonnia faction or the wizard characters. I have a suspicion that this might be beyond our ability to fix based on the reasoning that in the past I've been able to change the model used by a character by editing the save game in the save parser tool but I can't ever seem to ditch Grombrindal. I can't be certain about this though as in my previous tinkering it only related to changing one exiting orc general to another, nothing cross-faction.

    Yeah. I've basically given up on both of the paths I laid out above. Tried a few different iterations with no luck - I still feel like I'm missing something.

    Took a bit of the wind out of my sails, but I know I can at least duplicate the Damsel out with different lores so that's my plan at the moment.
